Robinson Research Institute
About the Business
The Robinson Research Institute, located at 55 King William Road in North Adelaide, Australia, is an esteemed establishment and point of interest dedicated to advancing the field of child and family health through research excellence. Our vision is to ensure lifetime health for all children and families.
At the Robinson Research Institute, we offer various opportunities for individuals to get involved with our institute and contribute to our groundbreaking research initiatives. One area of focus is the use of antidepressants, which are commonly prescribed for mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety disorders. With one in seven Australians currently using these medications, we recognize the importance of understanding the potential withdrawal symptoms associated with weaning off these drugs.
In collaboration with 4DMedical, we are proud to be involved in a research project led by Associate Professor David Parson that utilizes a revolutionary 4D scanner. This cutting-edge technology aims to enhance the diagnosis of lung diseases, benefiting billions of people worldwide, particularly children. The scanner has already proven instrumental in managing various lung conditions, including cystic fibrosis, asthma, and even COVID-19. Through this research, Australia solidifies its position as a leader in the field of lung science.
Additionally, our institute is actively involved in redefining cerebral palsies as a diverse group of neurodevelopmental disorders with genetic origins. Traditionally, cerebral palsy has been attributed to brain damage during development, often occurring around birth. However, our research aims to shed new light on the genetic factors contributing to this movement disorder.
Furthermore, a recent study conducted in South Australia has revealed the long-term benefits of breastfeeding for mothers' cardiovascular health. The study found that breastfeeding for six months or more significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular problems developing in mothers for at least three years after delivery. This discovery highlights the importance of promoting and supporting breastfeeding as a means of enhancing maternal well-being.
In addition to our research endeavors, the Robinson Research Institute hosts various events of academic and scientific significance. The Lloyd Cox Memorial Lecture, scheduled for 2023, will provide a platform for renowned experts to share their insights and advancements in the field. Furthermore, we cordially invite you to attend the 10th annual SA Vaccinology Conference, set to take place at the National Wine Centre on November 3, 2023. This conference offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading researchers and professionals in the field of vaccination.
Located on the ground floor of the Norwich Centre at 55 King William Road in North Adelaide, the Robinson Research Institute serves as a hub for innovative research and collaboration. Join us in our mission to improve the health and well-being of children and families, and be a part of the groundbreaking discoveries that shape the future of healthcare.
