About the Business
Welcome to Stepping Stone Northfield Childcare & Early Development Centre! Located at 484 Grand Junction Road in Northfield, Australia, our establishment is a point of interest that delivers quality childcare to families in Northfield and the surrounding areas.
At Stepping Stone Northfield, we are dedicated to providing a happy, safe, and nurturing environment where children can develop confidence and independence at their own pace. Our team of experienced and qualified educators is committed to delivering the highest quality of care possible. We follow an educational program that incorporates 'Being, Belonging, Becoming', which is based on The Early Years Learning Framework. This program supports each child in a stimulating, fun, and educational way, while also recognizing and meeting their individual learning and developmental requirements.
One of our top priorities is ensuring that your child receives healthy and nutritious meals every day. Our meals are provided and cooked fresh, guaranteeing that all nutritional requirements are met. Our rotating menu encourages children to discover various tastes and textures, promoting a well-rounded diet.
Our centre has dual access, allowing us to build strong relationships and work in partnership with the local school and kindergarten. We have a combined split-level outdoor environment with a slide and sandpit for children to explore, along with a warm and inviting indoor environment. Artwork and masterpieces created by the children and educators are proudly displayed for everyone to admire.
With five spacious rooms, our centre provides ample space for children to move between indoor and outdoor areas, experiencing both built and natural environments that are developmentally appropriate.
Don't just take our word for it - hear from families who have attended our Northfield childcare centre. They have praised the lovely, caring, and welcoming environment provided by our director and staff. Parents have felt comfortable discussing their children's needs and highly recommend our centre. One parent even mentioned that their children started eating vegetables at a very young age thanks to our diverse menu.
As the Centre Director, I, Cheryl McLeod, take immense pride in our centre. Our team of professional educators is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for your children. We believe in collaborative partnerships with families and aim to ensure that your children learn through play, exploration, and stimulating interaction.

"Our children have been attending Northfield Centre for a number of years. We have been provided with a lovely, caring and welcoming environment. The director and staff has always ensured our children's needs are accommodated with support and care. It has always been an approachable environment in which we feel comfortable discussing our children's needs. Highly recommend this centre."
"I sent both of my kids to Stepping Stone Northfield. Back in 2013 was my son – he’s now 11, and now my daughter. They like the people, more than anything. As a migrant, we didn’t have any relatives here. Childcare is the only option. Like any child does, they’re both crying their lungs out on their first day. However the carers were so comforting, and confidently explained to me that kids will normally be fine in a week or so. I honestly didn’t believe them, however after a week, lo and behold they’re happy. Sheryl and the staff knows magic. They have a wide variety of activities that my kids don't get bored. Ask about Tuesday... my daughter's favorite day. I also have to add, it’s one of the few places where my kids ate veggies at a very young age. This alone I’ll give them 6 stars, if I can."
"I started sending my son here in 2016 until starting school and now send my almost 2 year old. They were extremely helpful when my son started Kindy by allowing me to drop him at care then they took him over for half day at Kindy and vise versa for his Kindy morning sessions. My son still gets excited to say hello to the staff while dropping off his sister of before school. The staff have been professional, and supportive with both my kids and myself. I highly recommend this centre."
"My oldest daughter went to stepping stones Northfield and now my 15 month old just started recently. A very safe environment for kids. The educators are loving, kind and understanding. I personally like the manager who understands your family situation. Being an Indian, I was worried about the childcare food. To be honest they both love Bec's (the childcare cook) cooking more than mine. I have enquired other childcare facilities but this is the only childcare that does not charge anything during the school holidays if one of the parent is a teacher. My sister is also planning to send her son to the same centre."
"My son has been there one day after his enrolment. He did not eat and even drink water whole day. Nobody in staff encourage him to drink water at least. When we visit there to pick him, he was pale, lips dry. We pick his water bottle and gave to him and he started drinking water. It makes me nervous. It was hot day, even staff did not take off his beanie but they add one more cap on top while he was playing outside. Not had good experience and I regret for sending my son at this place."
