"I don't know how to express my frustration. Dr Tan recommended an extremely strict diet for my 1 year old without running any tests, told me she had IBS. Somehow I didn't agree with him, but followed his advice because he's a specialist, right? After 2-3 months on this diet, my daughter became extremely weak, her stools were becoming worse and worse. I had to go to Europe and did many tests...I found out that the diet that Dr Tan recommended was made of the foods that my daughter was allergic to. Basically whatever I fed my daughter for 3 months was causing a lot of inflammation in her body. Now she has to be on a different diet and medication for at least 12 months. My advice is that if you feel something is not quite right and you don't agree with the doctors, advocate for your child or even go to a different country until you find the right specialist. This comes from a mamma who went to 3 different hospitals with a 1 year old who wasn't received any medical support and because of that, she ended up with a perforated intestine. The doctors kept telling me she was fine and to go home."
