Juniper & Bay 3 Preston Street, Como, Western Australia 6152
About the Business
Welcome to Juniper & Bay, a charming establishment located at 3 Preston Street in Como, Australia. As a renowned restaurant and point of interest, we pride ourselves on serving beautifully presented creations made from seasonal produce, featuring balanced flavors and complex jus and sauces. Our German heritage shines through in our signature dish, the Oven Roasted Duck in Port & Prune Jus with Braised Red Cabbage and Dumpling, a timeless favorite that has remained unchanged on our menu for over 20 years.
For a truly unforgettable culinary experience, we highly recommend trying our 5-course Degustation Menu. With smaller servings and a greater variety of dishes, you can leave the selection to us and indulge in a well-composed progression of entrees, mains, and desserts. To complement your meal, we have carefully curated 5 wines to perfectly match each course, offering you a complete wine and food experience.
Our wine list proudly showcases a focus on Australian titles, with a strong representation from Margaret River and the Great Southern regions, as well as the warmer growing regions in South Australia. With approximately 15 wines available by the glass, we cater to every taste and budget. We are fully licensed, and on Tuesday nights, you can bring your own wine for a moderate corkage charge of $10 per bottle.
In addition to our extensive wine selection, we offer a variety of domestic and imported beers, including ales from Denmark's Artisan Brewing, masterfully crafted by WA Brewing Association's president and Australia's only certified Cicerone, Brian Fitzgerald.
Juniper & Bay is open from Tuesday to Saturday nights, starting at 5:30 pm and closing late. Please note that the last kitchen orders are taken at 9 pm.
Take advantage of our fixed-price dining offer, which includes 2 courses for $65 or 3 courses for $78. This special is available every day and includes one main course and one entree and/or dessert per person. For groups, we can accommodate up to 8 guests from Tuesday to Thursday, and up to 6 guests on Fridays and Saturdays. Larger groups of 9 or more have the option to choose between our degustation menu or a group menu starting from $78, featuring shared entrees followed by a full selection of main courses and desserts.
The name Juniper & Bay is not only inspired by the berries and leaves but also reflects their importance in our cooking. These ingredients play a vital role in creating the complex and strong flavors in our stocks and sauces, adding depth to our dishes.
After a successful 10-year run in East Fremantle's popular George Street Bistro, Soren and Sabine have brought their expertise and passion to Como. Located at the river end of Preston Street, within the premises of the Windsor Lodge Hotel, our small and intimate fine-dining restaurant offers a sophisticated blend of European and Modern Australian cuisine.

"Pleasant surprise. Staying at the Windsor lodge, and saw this restaurant within the building. Wow what presentation and treatment of the proteins was special. This photo was my Beef Fillet. The 4 of us all rated the experience highly. Will definitely come again."
"Visited here 3 times before Covid: amazing experiences, good food. Good service. Venue: free parking at street. Need reservations. Good vibe, but noisy. Comfy seating. LED candlelit dinner. --- 7.8/10 Service: full booking. The waiter provided better service with smiles. No need to wait long for each course. --- 7.8/10 Food: Degustation, set, or a large carte menu are available. All meals are served with bread and butter. Still and sparkling water is included. Gorgeous food presentation. Not using edible flowers now. Normal portion. Reasonable price. 3 course fix price dining, $78. - extraly ordered pasta for toddlers: came first. Didn't try, but it looked good. - Complimentary Bread: soft and fresh. - a small shot of refresher before entrees: There is chopped apple and beetroot with cream on the top. Lack of flavor. Too much cream for us. Previous soup was much better. --- 5/10 ~ Entrees 1) Tartlet with Duck Liver Pate with Plum, Peach & Red Onion Chutney, and gherkins. Good to have it with toast. Smooth texture. 2) Prawn Cocktail with Fennel & Orange Salad and tomato Sherbet. Fennel wasn't overpowering. Small prawns were cut half and so slightly affected the texture. --- 7.8/10 3) Asian Popcorn Chicken: slightly over cooked chicken. Pretty hard to cut through. ~ Mains 1) Beef Fillet Steak: cooked to medium-rare as we ordered. Beef was good. Peppercorn crust was burnt and tasteless to me. --- 8.5/10 2) Skin-on Baramundi: well-cooked. Decent dish, taste, and presentation. --- 8.3/10 ~ Desserts 1) Chocolate Ganache Tart with Blood Orange Sorbet: The Tart had been cracked when served. Same Tart base with Duck Liver Tartlet Entree. Chocolate Ganache was too firm. Sorbort was good. I need a bit more Sorbet. --- 7.7/10 2) Red Wine Poached Pear with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream: half-cut pear with seeds. Not very impressed. Creamy ice cream. --- 7.5/10"
"I came here this week with my partner for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. The best service, beautiful food and a great atmosphere. We decided before we had our dessert we would be back to celebrate big things in the future! Thank you"
"Service and wine matching to the food was excellent. The lamb fillet Wellington was far to rare for my taste, I like my meat at least partly cooked. The rest of the menu was good. But the lamb spoilt my experience."
