After completing his specialist training in Brisbane in 2009, A/Prof Foote pursued further sub-specialist training in stereotactic (brain and spine) radiosurgery and neuro-oncology at the prestigious Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.

Since joining the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2010 and Greenslopes Private Hospital in 2012, A/Prof Foote has maintained a busy public and private practice. He is the Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Centre of Queensland, which he established, and a Founding Member and former Chair of the Stereotactic Interest Group of Australasia (SIGA). Additionally, he has served as the Chair of the International Clinical Research Subcommittee (ICRS) and on the Management Committee for the Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO). A/Prof Foote is also an ex-officio Board Member of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS) and contributes to the ISRS Certification Committee, which aims to enhance the quality of stereotactic services worldwide.

In addition to his clinical commitments, A/Prof Foote is dedicated to ongoing medical education in his role with The University of Queensland. He actively engages in medical research, particularly in the areas of stereotactic radiotherapy, melanoma, and skin cancer, through national and international collaborations. His contributions to the field of radiation oncology have been recognized, and in 2019, he was awarded the University of Toronto Alumnus of the Year.
