About the Business
Dr Robert Hensen is a highly skilled and experienced clinical haematologist based at Icon Cancer Centre Wesley, Chermside, North Lakes, and South Brisbane in Australia. With a passion for rapidly developing cancer treatments, Dr Hensen decided to specialize in haematology in order to provide long-term support to his patients.
Dr Hensen received his early medical training in New Zealand and Western Australia before working as a registrar in the Hunter region of New South Wales. He then underwent advanced clinical and laboratory haematology training at Calvary Mater Hospital in Newcastle and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Now permanently settled in Brisbane, Dr Hensen is dedicated to private practice and offers a broad range of expertise in general, consultative haematology and haemato-oncology.
One of Dr Hensen's main areas of interest is in novel agents for lymphoma and myeloma therapy. He is actively involved in clinical trials research with the Icon Cancer Foundation, contributing to the development of new treatments and improving outcomes for patients.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Hensen is happy to assist the medical community with any questions or inquiries regarding haematology laboratory results. His commitment to advancing the field of haematology extends beyond his own practice, as he actively engages in collaborations and knowledge sharing with other healthcare professionals.
Dr Hensen is currently accepting referrals for both malignant and non-malignant blood disorders. He has a special clinical interest in the following areas:
- AMLM22/D1: Dr Hensen is participating in the International Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) Platform Consortium (IAPC) trial, which aims to compare the efficacy of experimental therapies versus standard of care in patients with AML in their first complete remission.
- Evaluation of the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmacodynamics of PHI 101 for the Treatment of AML: Dr Hensen is involved in evaluating the potential of PHI 101 as a treatment for AML.
- KRT-232 Versus Best Available Therapy for the Treatment of Subjects With Myelofibrosis Who Are Relapsed or Refractory to JAK Inhibitor Treatment (BOREAS): Dr Hensen is participating in this study to assess the effectiveness of KRT-232 compared to the best available therapy for patients with myelofibrosis who have relapsed or are refractory to JAK inhibitor treatment.
