Welcome to Periwinkles Family Day Care, located at 16 Marsh Parade in North Lakes, Australia. My name is Leigh Winckle, and I have proudly operated this establishment for the past 12 years. With over 20 years of experience working with children, I am dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and caring environment for your little ones.

At Periwinkles, we believe that the first 1000 days of a child's life are crucial for their social and emotional well-being, as well as their brain development. That is why we offer a soft and gentle start to their lifelong learning journey through our Family Day Care program. Each child's needs are individually addressed and our program is designed to promote their unique abilities.

We strongly believe in the power of Nature Play, which involves grounding children and connecting them to Mother Earth through natural resources. We also encourage loose parts play to enhance creativity and imaginative thought. Our little ones enjoy activities such as painting, crafting, nature walks, and music. Reading and singing are incorporated into our daily routine.

Promoting mindfulness is an essential aspect of our program. We firmly believe in the importance of children learning to care, empathize, and respect each other and their environment. Through various activities and discussions, we instill these values within our young learners.

In January 2012, the National Quality Framework (NQF) was implemented across Australia to improve and standardize the quality of child care. Periwinkles Family Day Care fully adheres to this framework, which includes measures such as better staff to child ratios and higher staff qualifications. We are also subject to an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement.

The NQF assesses the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It covers various types of child care services, including long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten, and outside school hours care. Under these standards, child care services are evaluated against the seven quality areas, 18 standards, and 58 elements that make up the NQS.
