About the Business
Welcome to Janine Claxton Psychology, a trusted establishment located at 15 Hastings Road in Frankston, Australia. Our institution is dedicated to providing top-quality mental health services and is recognized as a point of interest in the area.
Janine Claxton, the founder of our institution, has a rich educational background and extensive experience in the field of psychology. She completed her BA Honours Degree in Psychology at the prestigious University of Melbourne and later obtained a Diploma of Education from La Trobe University. Janine's passion for clinical psychology led her to pursue a Master of Clinical Psychology Degree at The Flinders University of South Australia, where she was awarded a post-graduate scholarship.
Throughout her career, Janine has gained valuable experience working in various settings. She began her journey as part of a research team at the University of Melbourne and "Taralye," focusing on the interaction between hearing-impaired and normal hearing children. Following this, she worked in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Austin Hospital, Victoria, and also provided private tutoring for students experiencing academic difficulties.
During her Master's Degree, Janine had the opportunity to work with both adults and children in different clinical settings in Adelaide. She conducted research on peri-natal sleep disruption and its emotional impact and worked at the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woodcroft Community Health Centre, and the Adolescent Day Service.
Janine's passion for helping others led her to work as a Careers Adviser and Student Counsellor at The Flinders University of South Australia. She later focused on child and adolescent issues, adult anxiety and depression, cognitive and academic assessments, vocational assessments, and victims of crime assessments in private practice. She further expanded her expertise in child and adolescent psychology during her time at Novita, an organization supporting children and teenagers with physical disabilities.
In 2006, Janine made history by becoming the first psychologist to be employed as a member of the pediatric diabetes team and the young adult diabetes team at Frankston Hospital. She continues to provide invaluable assistance and support to young people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and their families. Alongside her work at Frankston Hospital, Janine recommenced her private practice in 2010, offering her services at 15 Hastings Road, Frankston.
