Our counselling space is conveniently located above the Salvation Army Employment Plus service. When you arrive, simply walk into the main entrance and take the elevator to level one. You will find our entrance on the left as you exit the elevator. Ample parking is available at the rear and side of the building for your convenience.

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you can benefit from reduced counselling rates through Medicare. To obtain a MHCP, we recommend booking a double session with your regular GP to allow ample time for discussing your concerns. Your GP will then provide you with a referral to see a Mental Health Social Worker or Psychologist, specifically requesting to see Prue Gilligan or Stuart Cheverton at Safe Place Therapy.

During your appointment with your GP, they may ask specific questions to assess your overall mental health. It is essential to be open and honest about your thoughts and feelings to ensure an accurate assessment. This process may involve the use of a scaling questionnaire to gauge your mental well-being. Feel free to raise any concerns or symptoms you may be experiencing during this time.

Seeing a Clinician who is Medicare registered enables you to access a Medicare rebate for individual counselling sessions. To determine if this applies to your chosen clinician, please refer to the 'Fees' section on our Meet Our Team page, where you will find the Medicare logo.
