"Warning! This place will charge you a huge amount for mediocre food. Firstly, the so called minimum charge per seat is completely absurd. I can understand that adults have been asked to comply to this as the main meals are around that price however we went with 4 children and asked if they could have smaller meals. They told us we could choose starters but would turn them into main meals - basically charging us $45 or more for each dish. I have no problems with the waiters but rather - this rule needs to be taken to a (is there even one??) management team and fixed. Secondly, even with the minimum charge per seat… there are MORE requirements! Every seat has to also purchase a dessert (which is greatly overpriced for the quality - $16 for two churros) or a starter. It’s pay more because it’s there ‘policy’ apparently - no logical thought has been put into the way this place is run. Finally, the steak was okay, but not for the price as the amount of salad and chips served was unreasonable. The table of two next to us had the same amount that was shared for every four of us. If you charge that much, we expect to get our decent share no? I would not recommend coming here, especially families - stay away!!!"
"A nice hidden gem for all the meat lovers. The scotch fillet was cooked to perfection and the sticky date definitely ticked the box for this sweet tooth."
"After many recommendations to try this local gem, the occassion presented itself. A birthday celebration. Quiet and low key. The journey to find this charming and quaint space was an adventure itself. Street parking at the front door! Getting out of the car the street was quiet. A small group walking and whispering that they too were looking for Char Grill on the Hill. Walking through the door, greeted by friendly staff. Quiet tones of people talking. Respectful to the environment. Keeping the volume to a manageable level. Allowing you to chat with your friends respectfully (not competing to be heard). Ordering the Rib Eye, one well done the other medium-rare. A side of Grilled Vegetables. Asking for a gravy and the staff retorted “we don’t ruin our steak”. Bold statement. Let the steak be the hero! The hero it was. With a marble score of 7 both steaks were buttery. Just melted in your mouth. Simple sides allowed the meat to be the hero. A dining experience with an indulgence to the taste buds. When you can see the chefs in the kitchen, there isn’t anything to hide. My Grandpa would always say that you know a good butcher when they don’t advertise their meat in the window. This may well be true for steak houses who don’t hide the preparation process."
"Whilst the steak was delicious there are certainly steakhouses that are better value for money. I had the marbled 300g porterhouse as recommended by our waiter which was $70 or so. There are no sauces available, they keep it very traditional offering mustard only which I am not a fan of though the steak did stand up on its own. Sides of cabbage, lettuce and chips are included but the portion size didn’t seem to change whether there were two of your at the table or four (we were four). At that price you would expect an individual serve. Service was friendly but scattered. Complimentary bread and I enjoyed the wagyu sausage entree (plenty of flavour/fat) though desserts were on the small side and there isn’t a huge amount of atmosphere. Plenty of regulars and certainly a quality meal but probably overpriced"
"Very friendly and professional waiter with excellent recommendations of our steak. We had a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary celebration last night. Great food and service."
