"Saturday breakfast. Food and coffee was good, slipped a little on the service, bitterly cold/windy outside but was lovely inside; bright and clean. Familiar with Vvaldmeer but haven’t been in ages. Talked about their legendary crumpets, and incredible wild mushrooms on toast. Arrived a bit before 7am and did make it clear we knew we were early and would sit outside with some menus until they opened. Coffees were great. Food was delicious and quick. Ordered Poached eggs on toast with a side of mushrooms, and the Miso Beans. Attendant asked if I wanted sourdough with the beans, and I clarified what it came with (just beans & mushrooms) and I asked for the sourdough (*get the sourdough*, delicious on its own but elevates the beans too). Paid for meals and coffees $50.93. Meals arrived, and unfortunately the poached eggs didn’t have their mushrooms. Attendant said they’d bring them, and left us there with the current meals. A short wait later and the mushrooms arrived, but they made a point of saying they’d checked the receipt and they didn’t charge us for the mushrooms. “But it’s okay.” I said to my guest that I was sure I’d ordered the mushrooms, and they agreed they’d heard me. Coffee $4.5+$4.8+$0.5, Beans $21+$2, Eggs $14 = $46.8. Mushrooms are $5 so should have been $51.80. Not a big deal, and was very quickly resolved. But I think the tone of the comment took the shine off. They didn’t seem too happy to have us there, but felt like a general vibe this morning. Popular, clearly have some regulars whose names they know, and I will definitely return."

"I think this place is not lackadaisical like many other cafes because you guys are not greedy. My son likes it and he never likes anything. He also got 2 smashing babycinos that aren't the bare minimum. The chocolate shavings and freckles not only made the cup pretty but they made him feel so delightful. Thank you for making our mummy-son date wonderful."

"This place is a fantastic addition to the West End/Highgate Hill coffee scene. I had the smoked salmon and pickled vegetables and it was an absolute delight! My partner had the avocado on toast and couldn't stop talking about it. On the morning we went, they were packed but the coffee was still quick and perfect. And sparkling mineral water on tap!! Thanks guys, keep up the great work!"

"Really, really delicious coffee! These guys know what they’re doing. House-smoked bacon was definitely a highlight, as was the service - warm and friendly without being overbearing. A very relaxed spot, can’t wait to try their cheesecake next time!"
