At Oakwood School, we believe in the power of learning, respect, and empowerment. Our team takes great pride in the positive feedback we receive from our students, their families, and those who support them. We understand that not all students can thrive in a traditional school setting, and we are here to provide them with opportunities to flourish.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds, but share the common experience of trauma in their lives, such as violence, family breakdowns, and associated mental health issues. We foster a culture of inclusivity, understanding, and empathy, where every student feels valued and respected. Positive relationships, open communication, and a safe community are at the core of our values. We encourage students to express themselves, embrace diversity, and appreciate the unique strengths and experiences of others.
Through personalized learning plans, individualized support, and opportunities for growth and leadership, we equip students with the skills, knowledge, and resilience to overcome challenges and create meaningful pathways towards a successful future. Our varied curriculum includes subjects such as art, physical education, and vocational training, ensuring a well-rounded education for our students.
Child safety is of utmost importance to us, and we continuously review and update our policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all. We are committed to providing a nurturing space where students can thrive academically and personally.

"My family had gone through so much pain and anger with previous schools, when trying to deal with and support my nieces education. The current principal Nathan has done wonders to not only support her and her needs but, also our family. which has not been previously provided by any other educational setting. The school and its staff have made her feel welcome and safe and she is now getting the support required to help her achieve an education. Not only this, she has now made a group of friends from the school in which we never thought she would be able to make. We as a family can now see a bright future for her which would not have been possible without the amazing impact the school has had on her. Thank you so much Nathan and all the staff at the school. Continue the fantastic work you are doing to support our children and the fantastic work you also do in the wider community."
"I haven't been to the school in 12 years but it was good back then and I would amuse it's still good now. hell wish we were given laptops to do work would of been so much easier, that being said so many of them would of been stolen."
"I completely disagree with all the 1 star reviews. We have felt completely supported by the staff & we commenced prior to the change in principal, so have experienced both. My child has experienced major issues with attendance due to personal circumstances and Oakwood have not given up on working with us. The support and genuine care we’ve received by this school has been excellent. It is so very different to mainstream school and caters to kids who need a caring environment."
"Principle (Nathan) doesn’t care about his students or their needs. Is trying to change it into a mainstream school"
"After prior years in which I would have consistently rated Caulfield Park a solid 5 stars, the recent change in management has left both students and staff thrown aside to start the building of Nathan Vogt's new ideal school - AKA, one in which the past community values and genuine care for disadvantaged students is left behind for a money-grubbing, institutional school that focuses less on providing positive resources for those in need and more in being a mainstream school for kids with 'easier' backgrounds. This has left a gaping hole where disadvantaged students could once re-engage in learning and thrive, with those who were enrolled at the time of the ex-principals leaving now being pressured out, essentially being discarded. The fact that nearly the ENTIRE staffing was changed upon his entering of the role truly showcases his disregard for the 30+ years of work and love put into the school by the previous management. Truly depressing and I would highly recommend sending your kids somewhere that actually cares about them as individuals."
