Welcome to Montgomery Park Maternal & Child Health Centre, located at 47 Lawson Street, Essendon, Australia. Our institution is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services for mothers and children.

Our team of Maternal and Child Health nurses are registered nurses with additional qualifications in midwifery and maternal and child health. With their extensive knowledge and experience, they are equipped to address all aspects of child and family health and wellbeing. We are committed to providing comprehensive care and support to families in need.

One of the services we offer is the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health program, which is an extension of Victoria's Maternal and Child Health service. This program is specifically designed to provide additional support to selected families who require extra assistance. To access this program, you can make a referral through your Maternal and Child Health Nurse.

During your visits, our nurses use the Parents Evaluation of Developmental Status (PEDS) screening tool to involve parents in assessing the development and wellbeing of their child. We discuss various topics such as the child's health and development, the physical and emotional effects on the family, parent health and wellbeing, and any concerns families may have.

We have 10 key ages and stages consultations that align with the child's milestones from birth to 3.5 years. Each consultation provides tip sheets, information, and links to additional resources to support parents in their journey.

In addition to our healthcare services, we also offer a program for new parents living in Moonee Valley. This program provides valuable information on health, wellbeing, and family matters, as well as the opportunity to build friendships with local families. Partners are encouraged to attend as well. After completing the program, parents are invited to stay connected by joining a baby playgroup or organizing informal catch-ups.

For breastfeeding support, we provide free weekly sessions facilitated by Certified Lactation Consultants. Appointments can be made through your MCH nurse. If you need immediate help, the Australian Breastfeeding Association offers a 24-hour helpline at 1800 686 268.

Understanding your child's sleep patterns can be challenging, but our team is here to help. We can provide guidance on healthy sleep patterns and offer advice if your baby is not sleeping well. Our goal is to support you in creating a restful environment for your little one as they grow.

At our centre, you will have access to multiple services in one location, fostering connections with the local community. We often share facilities with childcare centres, kindergartens, and community centres. Our staff work collaboratively, exchanging perspectives on children as they interact in different environments.

We understand the importance of accessibility, which is why we provide waiting rooms for feeding and baby care. All parents who are feeding are welcome to drop in and utilize these spaces.

If you require telephone advice, our Maternal and Child Health nurses are available 24 hours a day throughout Victoria. Simply call 13 22 29 for assistance. An interpreter service is also available, as well as support for those with hearing impairment who have access to a telephone typewriter (TTY).
