Muay Thai, often referred to as "The Art of Eight Limbs," utilizes both legs and arms to take down opponents. Each body part serves as its own weapon, with hands as swords, shins as shields and armor, and elbows and knees as hammers or axes.
At Pursuit, we offer a comprehensive training curriculum that caters to beginners through advanced participants. Our main goals include creating a healthy lifestyle through activity and camaraderie, teaching children how to deal with bullying in a positive manner, cultivating discipline and respect, and developing conflict resolution skills.
We believe that self-confidence is essential for personal growth, and our training programs are designed to build it. While most of our community members join to learn something new and make friends, some choose to test themselves in competition. Our Fight Team is an invitation-only session for the most advanced practitioners in the gym. "Unfortunately Pursuit MT in Lilydale is getting one star from me. I had pretty high hopes as I've been to a few Muay Thai gyms around the area and was really looking for a place to hone my skills and learn. As much as I appreciate and admire the head coach, he unfortunately didn't seem to take much interest in the students. He would frequently be on his phone after setting us to do drills/pad work, and the pad work itself was very repetitive. I even went into some of the "fighter classes" which are meant to be for more advanced students, which still left a lot to be desired. There wasn't really any real community spirit in the gym either, which is something I think is crucial for keeping students, and the gym itself, tight-knit and professional. At the end of the day, I appreciated being able to sweat it out, but that's all I got from my time at Pursuit. I didn't walk away knowing anymore than I did before. And for $40 per week (discount rate for being an "early bird" buyer) you would expect a little more."
"What makes a good gym is it’s atmosphere and the coach. These guys have definitely hit the nail on the head with that. The teacher Kru Go definitely knows his stuff when it comes to technique wise and the support they have is all you will ever need. They have classes for beginners and for fighters, so you can always become a member here no matter your previous experience!"
"Im sorry to be leaving this Muay Thai gym due to change in jobs but I couldn't recommend this place any more if I tried. First of all, it is THE CLEANEST gym I have ever been a part of. The team is welcoming and friendly and now everything is in its 'groove' post opening with the different levelled classes its great. Kru Go is obviously super knowledgeable and Rasheed is a friendly face on reception. 5 stars from me"
