"I can see why their rating is so low. They are more than double the price of other speech pathologists in the area to have your child assessed. They have a mandatory "parent planning session" which they charge $250 for and then the actual assessment is $580 on top of that. They repeat and ask the same questions in the parent planning session and the assessment, it's a complete waste of time and money. And this is all to see a graduate speech pathologist! I was assigned to someone with only 3 months experience who wasn't able to answer basic questions about my son's speech. When I complained to management and asked for a more qualified pathologist I was told I would have to go on a long waitlist. Despite being very unhappy with the process, providing feedback and receiving nothing from them other than a huge waste of time (my son never even met with them) I was still forced to pay the fees for the service. We ended up going to their competitors Therapies for Kids in Lilyfield and are very happy with them."
"The staff here are lovely but I have a few comments that might assist those looking to send their children; - Note the business is somewhat cagey in terms of their pricing. There’s nothing on their website and you don’t get anything up front to know what to expect…. And if you’re wondering what to expect well you’ll be paying through the nose. Initial consults are over $550+ and general consults are around $250… that’s at least $1,000 a month you’ll be needing to cough up if going weekly, which they prefer! I don’t really know who has that kind of money given you get barely nothing back from health insurance but all power to you! - Other than the huge cost I’m a little concerned at how much “OT” goes on in the rooms and how much of it is playing with toys. Sure there’s a point to it all but for a 50 minute session I reckon you get 5-10 mins of therapy and the rest is play time. - waiting lists are long and often preferred time slots aren’t always available. Be prepared"
"The Speech and OT sessions received at IWP in the past two years for my son has exceeded all my expectations. The therapists have a huge understanding of my son’s needs and connect with me, and his teachers frequently in order to set goals for him and provide feedback on his progress. Without their help, I do not believe that transition into kindy this year would have been as successful as it has been. Their continued attendance into his classroom during term 1 has cemented his behaviour in both the classroom and playground setting enabling him to expand on his social skills. A severe speech delay had left him lacking in confidence and I can see a real difference in his personality as we progress through both the language and speech sounds journey. I highly recommend IWP ."
"Inner West Paediatrics speech therapists helped my son and allowed him to start school full of confidence with his speech. Maddie was so knowledgeable and my son loved going to each session. He progressed quickly with his sounds and I was given the information I needed to support him between sessions. Lovely, friendly staff and therapy spaces."
"Virginia was both of my sons Speech Therapist for just over 3 years. She was highly recommended to us and we feel so lucky that she was able to help us develop both boys speech issues early on when they were at pre school and also the start of primary school. She was really invested in each child and took the time to work out individually what they needed while also helping provide tips and tricks that we could use at home to help them develop further. Both absolutely adored Virginia. Her passion for what she does is truly evident in the way she works with the kids. We cannot thank her enough for the help she has provided our family."
