"Still waiting on an answer from Jo Mercer if their Chinese manufactured shoes are supporting the horrors in China where they torture and skin dogs and cats for leather products including shoes. We are all still waiting to hear from you Jo Mercer! There are many of us waiting for an answer. We want to know if we are unknowingly supporting this horror. Please do us the courtesy of responding to reassure your customers! So far we can only assume the answer is yes due to the silence !"
"I purchased a pair of Hastings flats late last year after receiving a gift voucher from my parents for my birthday. The shoes LOOK amazing, however they are the most uncomfortable sandals I have ever owned (and I've owned a lot!). I've tried to wear them several times, but every time I wear them they dig into the tops of my feet so badly that they end up drawing blood! Photo attached where you can see the most recent injury (as well as a mostly healed injury underneath from the same shoes). I emailed Jo Mercer, not to ask for a refund, but to ask for any advice, and the reply I got was very unhelpful and defensive - both the customer service rep and the subsequent manager who emailed me both replied basically telling me that because I've worn them I can't have a refund (I didn't even ask for a refund) and then they went on to tell me there must be something wrong with the shape of my feet because these shoes are a "best seller". I've never ever had such a big issue, to cause cuts on my feet, in my entire 40 years of existence, and I'm pretty sure my feet are regular shape. I have since purchased a similar pair of Dr Martens sandals (similar chunky sole style) and they are a million times more comfortable from the very first wear - no cuts, no blisters, no discomfort of any kind. The Dr Martens sandals have a more flexible sole, which I believe is the problem with the Jo Mercer Hastings flats (not my feet). I am so disappointed with not only these expensive sandals that were my birthday present, but also the customer service. I won't buy from this brand again."
"Be careful shopping in this brand. Their product just look nice, but the quality is very bad. I bought a bag from Jo Mercer, I only used for 4 hours when attending to a client meeting. The bag just keep opening on the way (the magnet is not strong enough)and my phone, wallet fell out from the bag. I brought the bag to the QVB store and told them the bag is not fit for purpose, because this bag is keep opening when I carrying it. I asked the manager (Sunny) to have a look the problem and the bag was keep opening in the hand of the manager. I thought this problem could be solved. However, what I been told is the way I use the bag is not correct, it keep opening is because I hardly shake this bag (it not true). She will not exchange for me. To be fair, I checked with my colleague whether this bag fit for purpose, she also believed that this bag is not fit for purpose, because it is keeping opening when I carrying it and it is not secured to put personal staffs when walking on the street. Their staffs were very nice before you processing payments, but did not help at all when there is quality issue with the product."
"The staff on the store was nice, just want to review the quality of the shoes, it really hurts my feet, causing lots of pain, and they doesn’t care about it at all. It’s not even worth the price, cheap quality often hurts the most, and feels like it. I even only wear it once for couple of hours"
"This is how my brand new pair of shoes looks after 3 weeks of purchasing them and only wearing them at the office. The manager at the store was not nice to me when I claimed the shoes and Joe Mercer told me that this is normal to happen to shoes and that they don't guarantee quality for wear and tear. As if anyone would buy $200 leather shoes just to keep them in the wardrobe. If you are looking yo invest money in a good pair of shoes that you can actually wear and will last, don't come to Joe Mercer."
