Your surgeon will refer you to our clinic, where our team of nurses, physiotherapists, and doctors will triage you based on clinical risk factors identified in your health questionnaire.

The health questionnaire you complete will play a crucial role in determining the necessary tests and medications prior to your surgery. Depending on your health history and the specific procedure you will undergo, you may also be referred to a doctor for further evaluation.

We strongly encourage you to complete the patient health questionnaire within 24 hours following your appointment at which you decided to proceed with surgery at Macquarie University Hospital. This will allow us to gather all the necessary information efficiently.

For patients with Medicare, the MQ Health Pre-admission Clinic offers a no-gap service. However, overseas or international patients may be quoted a fee for our services.

Rest assured that any critical information identified during your appointment at the MQ Health Pre-admission Clinic will be promptly communicated to your surgeon and/or anaesthetist, ensuring seamless coordination of your care.

To expedite the process, we kindly request that surgeons order all preoperative tests on the day the patient is seen in the outpatient office. This will ensure that the results are readily available to our staff physicians at the MQ Health Pre-admission Clinic.
