St Joseph's Hospital 2A Normanby Road, Auburn, New South Wales 2144
About the Business
Welcome to St Joseph's Hospital, a renowned healthcare institution located at Auburn, Normanby Road, 2A. As an establishment dedicated to providing exceptional health services, St Joseph's Hospital has been a pillar of the community for many years.
However, after careful consideration and in consultation with NSW Health, St Vincent's Health Australia has made the difficult decision to decommission St Joseph's Hospital. Although this decision has been challenging, we will continue to accept referrals and ensure that all current services run smoothly until the transition to alternative clinical services is complete.
One of the main factors contributing to this decision is the aging infrastructure of our hospital. Despite the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated staff, the small size of the facility has made it increasingly difficult to operate as a stand-alone hospital in a sustainable manner. Despite our best efforts over the past decade, securing the necessary investment to address the deteriorating infrastructure has proven elusive.
For those seeking access to St Joseph's Hospital, we offer convenient transportation options. The hospital is easily accessible from Auburn Station, with a short 750m walk. If you prefer to drive, limited onsite parking is available, including designated areas for visitors, Disabled Parking, and a hospital pick-up and drop-off zone. Street parking is also available.
Please note that St Joseph's Hospital does not have an Emergency Department. If you require emergency medical assistance, please refer to the provided link to locate the nearest Emergency Department within WSLHD.
During your stay at St Joseph's, our primary goal is to ensure your comfort, safety, and well-being. We encourage you to click on the provided link to access helpful information regarding your stay and important tips on staying safe while under our care.
We highly value feedback from our patients and their families, as it helps us improve our services. Whether you have compliments, suggestions, or complaints, we welcome your input. You can provide feedback by completing the online form, picking up a feedback form from the ward or a staff member, or dropping it into the feedback mailboxes located in the main foyer. If you prefer a more personal approach, our staff members are available to speak with you in person or over the phone, ensuring confidentiality throughout the process.
Additionally, if you or your loved ones have any concerns about recent changes in your condition, you can address them at any time, day or night. Our dedicated team is always ready to assist you and provide the necessary support.
St Joseph's Hospital is proud to be a facility under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, operating within the esteemed network of St Vincent's Health Australia. We remain committed to serving the community and providing the highest quality healthcare services until the transition to alternative clinical services is complete.

"I wanted to say a big thank you to all of the staff at St Joseph's for taking care of my father during his rehabilitation phase. The entire team at St Joseph's have been extremely kind and genuinely care about their patients. We have had no issues with their care. Thank you again, especially to Sanam, Dr Morrison, Marina, Fatima and the rest of the team at St Joseph's Hospital."
"My father was a patient here. The nursing staff at the hospital are also quite noisy and will leave staffroom lunch doors open - laughing and chatting loudly without consideration of the patients who need rest. I was extremely angry that my visit interrupted by the nursing staff gossiping loudly. But the hospital director investigated my complaint about the situation and disciplined staff about it - I hope this behaviour still doesn’t occur. The doctors and interns are great - they’re very kind, informative and helpful."
"Where do I start with st Joseph's pallative care at auburn, the nurses and doctors cared for my mum Lina who was dying from cancer for the last few months. from what she told me a day didn't go by where they didn't perform their absolute best for her, they treated mum with the utmost care and went above and beyond to try provide her with a better quality of life and for that I will be forever grateful. The staff were very accommodating for Lina and her family, addressed our concerns very quickly and we're more than lenient with her large family at a time when covid 19 has put limits on day to day operations. From the bottom of my heart Lina's family thanks all the nurses and doctors involved in Lina's care for making her limited time on this earth that much more bearable. Thanks again"
"My father passed away at St Joseph's hospital in June 2018 ,He only stayed there one night, We just met some nurses and receptionist and Doctors ,they were all fantastic people . All staff at St Joseph's hospital was so polite and supportive .After I lost my father I received a call and a letter from hospital which touched my heart. All I can say huge THANK YOU all St Josep's staff .Good to see these kind of service's and cares in our hospitals.."
"Shocking!!!!!! The staff were rude to my father from the moment he got there. Entered their care to help balance out his pain medication and was not physically capable of walk after 5 days there. Some staff from the catering were lovely but the practices by the doctors and nurses were questionable. This is evident by the number of patients doing and saying things such 'leave me alone' or 'why do you always hurt me'. In my opinion the doctors should not be there as they have changed what were long term medications and has led to a fast decline in my father's condition. Future action is on the cards considering the situation."
