Hawkesbury District Health Service- Emergency Room 2 Day Street, Windsor, New South Wales 2756
About the Business
Welcome to Hawkesbury District Health Service- Emergency Room, located at 2 Day Street, Windsor, Australia. As an establishment focused on providing quality healthcare, we strive to meet the urgent medical needs of our community.
In the event of an emergency, we encourage you to present to our Emergency Department and put on a mask upon arrival. If you or someone around you is experiencing a life-threatening medical condition, please call 000 and request an ambulance immediately.
At Hawkesbury District Health Service, we offer adult and paediatric emergency services free of charge to public patients who hold a valid Medicare card. However, if you are visiting from overseas, please note that you may be ineligible for treatment under Medicare and will be billed for the cost of your care. This includes any necessary diagnostic investigations such as radiology or pathology, which will be billed directly by our service provider. Our caring staff members are available to provide you with more information regarding this matter.
For non-urgent medical conditions, we recommend visiting your primary care doctor or contacting Healthdirect at 1800 022 222. If you require medical assistance outside regular business hours, you can find an after-hours doctor by visiting www.doctorclosed.com.au.
In the case of an urgent medical condition, you can still come to our Emergency Department. If possible, we kindly request that you bring any relevant medical records or documentation with you. Our dedicated healthcare professionals will prioritize your care based on the severity of your illness, rather than the order of attendance. This means that if another patient arrives with a more serious condition, you may be required to wait. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding in such situations.
Upon arrival, please see our triage nurse first. They will ask you questions and assess your condition to determine the level of priority. Depending on the assessment, you may be taken straight into the department or directed to the waiting room.
While waiting, we kindly ask that you inform the triage nurse if your condition changes or if you decide to seek treatment elsewhere. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities.
Once inside the Emergency Department, our experienced nurses and doctors will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition. Necessary tests and procedures will be carried out as required. Our team will review the results and provide emergency treatment accordingly. They will then decide whether you need to be admitted to a ward or if you can be discharged home. In some cases, you may need to wait for test results or for a ward bed to become available. Rest assured that we will continue to provide care and support until you are able to proceed to a ward or be discharged home.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia. We recognize their ongoing connection to the land, waters, and community. We honor their cultures and the wisdom of Elders both past and present.
Thank you for choosing Hawkesbury District Health Service- Emergency Room. We are here to provide you with the best possible care during your time of need.

"I'd give zero stars if I could. My 2 year old daughter has been here 7 hours and they haven't given us any info. They are beyond rude when asking what's going on. There's 1 staff member on aswell"
"Extremely disappointing experience. My 2 yr old kid was made to wait 5 hrs for a head injury ! Easily the worst hospital i have ever visited in my life. Never coming back again !"
"I attended the Hawkesbury Hospital ED last evening. I was immediately seen by the triage nurse, had BP checked and a cannula installed in my arm. Then a chest X-ray and ECG. My condition was diagnosed by a polite, highly-skilled doctor and successfully treated. I was given medication on the spot and a prescription for some medicine which I could buy next day from my local pharmacy. In addition I was provided with a full report to give to my own GP. I admire and commend the efficiency, thoroughness and professional conduct of the 6 different members of staff I was seen by. Yes, it all took 5 hours, but that is inconsequential compared to the standard of care provided. After all, it's not a drive-through food outlet, is it? It's a medical facility that treats all-comers without an appointment and with no out-of-pocket expense as it's all covered by Medicare. We should count ourselves fortunate to have these services available on our doorstep when we need them. Sincere thanks to all the team at the Hawkesbury ED. SD"
"Yesterday, a Sunday, my wife went to the Emergency Dept for diohreea. We explained to the receptionist that we are visiting from New Zealand. She immediately put us at ease about no cost. Thank you to staff Dr (&instructor) Harry, a Pakistani lady Dr, Patricia, Kim, Rolly, and others for excellent care during the 5 hr visit. They detected a previously untreated condition while doing a routine exam. Excellent, friendly, efficient teamwork. Thank you very much."
"Waited over 3 hours to see a doctor for my 8 month old who had a head injury. She was categorised as semi urgent. Waiting that long with a baby was not a great experience. Had to feed her due to how long we were there and there was also no where to heat up a bottle."
