"We were advised by the staff at the store that baby seats must be fitted by an authorised person or you won’t be allowed to be discharged from hospital after having the baby as hospitals insist on seeing a certification for the fitting of the seat. We only realised it wasn’t a legal requirement but just a recommendation when we had our seat fitted but never got said certificate. We have since met other parents who were told the same thing. Just be aware - getting a baby seat fitted by a professional is only a recommendation. It can easily be done by anyone as long as the installation instructions are followed properly."
