About the Business
Welcome to CERES Community Environment Park, a vibrant and bustling institution located in the heart of Brunswick East, Melbourne. As a multifaceted establishment, we proudly serve as a cafe, grocery store, and tourist attraction, offering a unique experience for all who visit.
At CERES, we believe in the power of community and the importance of caring for our planet. As a public park, we invite visitors to explore our lush green spaces, engage with the local community, and discover our diverse range of enterprises. Whether you're looking to learn, shop, or simply enjoy the outdoors, CERES has something for everyone.
Since our establishment in 1982, we have been dedicated to environmental education and sustainability. We have successfully educated over 1 million students on how to care for the Earth, fostering a deep connection and appreciation for nature. By becoming a member of CERES, you join a like-minded community that shares a passion for both one another and the planet.
Spread across four locations and connected by the Merri and Darebin Creeks on Wurundjeri Country, CERES encompasses an environmental education center, a community garden, an urban farm, and a social enterprise hub. Our facilities include an online grocery, a nursery and bookstore, ethical wood merchant, and education center, providing a holistic approach to sustainability.
One of our primary goals is to reignite people's love for the Earth. We believe that by immersing ourselves in nature and understanding its importance, we can create a better future for generations to come. Through our educational programs, both on-site and online, we aim to address the pressing issues of climate change and ecological crisis.
Additionally, we offer various services and initiatives that align with our commitment to sustainability. CERES Fair Wood supplies farm-forested, sustainable timber and firewood, promoting responsible practices. Our two-acre organic farm, CERES Joe's Market Garden, located along the picturesque Merri Creek in Coburg, provides fresh and organic produce.
At CERES, we value the contributions of our dedicated volunteers, who play a significant role in our community. We encourage everyone to lend a hand and help us achieve our vision of falling in love with the Earth again.
Join us at CERES Community Environment Park, located at the corner of Roberts and Stewart Streets in Brunswick East. Reviews
"A great day out for green thumbs and plant enthusiasts. An organic food mart and a coffee shop with freshly baked cakes. A Good place for kids to play and to see farm animals."
"Lovely place, lovely cafe. A peaceful way to spend an afternoon. Everything in the cafe is cooked from scratch and made with herbs and ingredients from the gardens. I had a mint and watermelon kombucha and a lemon cake which was totally delicious. Nice community noticeboard with information on holistic health providers, alternative lifestyle events, and classifieds. Loved it here and will return."
"Visited Ceres today and shopped at the artisan market- pottery, hand knitted garments, Christmas decorations and other hand made delights. Lovely walks wandering around. Great shop which sells eco and organic wares including refillable washing and pantry supplies. There is a little cafe in the shop and then a bigger merri cafe, which has a great view from outdoor seating on the balcony. There’s a brilliant nursery too. Has it all."
"Great place with an awesome vibe. It's best experienced by walking or cycling here. Otherwise what's the point of buying organic stuff produced in an environmentally friendly way if you need to drive there to pick it up. It's located on the picturesque Merri Creek trail. This place is more than just a produce market. There's a great cafe that caters also to vegans, a bicycle recycler, where you can buy bicycles and have them repaired and other interesting events."
