"I chose Carlton because of the king size bed and the bath for my first solo night away from my 1 year old. I was disappointed to find that they do not supply a bath plug so I couldn't use the bath. I even contacted the concierge and they said that they weren't included in the room. However, the bed was comfortable and overall well priced, along the tram line without the city noises."
"How does this hotel stay open. I stayed one night, freezing cold as the heater did not work. No kitchen just a bench, no utensils. Mold everywhere. Pee stains in the bed. I managed to get a blanket from Coles but seriously the worst place ever. However I do work in WHS so I will be writing a report and submit on Monday. Staff are not interested in people. Money maker's. Stay away from this motel."
"Good location and reasonably priced but there were a few things that could have been better: The presentation of the staff was fairly poor - wearing track pants is not a good look for a hotel business. I was asked to sign for the room with a Sharpie. When we got to the room the swipe card didn’t work, so went back down to get it sorted - didn’t get an apology or anything. We had the same issue after going downstairs to collect our delivered dinner. We then discovered that there was no cutlery or plates in the room, just two mugs and two glasses. The basin in the bathroom had two big cracks in it and there was pink mould around the jets in the spa bath."
"Look so it's in a great spot, the staff are lovely but my God the rooms were filthy. I saw two rooms the first had toothpaste on the bathroom mirror and sink the shower was still wet and there was about a half of roll of toilet paper, which was on the floor and not on the holder. The second was slightly cleaner, although their were many small hairs in the bathtub and there was someone's very very old makeup still in the bathroom cabinet. Now I know this has nothing to do with the hotel itself but there was a very odd lady walking around and knocking on random hotel rooms demanding they "stop partying and to turn down the volume" even though the hotel was very quiet. I do regret writing this review as the staff were quite accommodating when I brought up the issues and they seemed quite friendly."
"The first thing you should know about the Carlton Hotel is that the staff are amazing. They are friendly and approachable, and when we did have some issues arise, were quick to rectify that. In saying that, this hotel is where you stay for budget accommodation. The rooms are decent enough, but perhaps not as perfectly clean as other hotels. Parking is $10/day, and the location is really good being close to Melbourne Zoo and the tram that leads into the city proper. All in all, I probably wouldn't stay here again, but it was definitely worth what we paid ($160/night for a King & Single room)."
