Beckett Park
About the Business
Welcome to Beckett Park, a hidden gem located in the heart of Balwyn, Australia. This establishment is not your ordinary park - it offers a unique and unforgettable outdoor experience for visitors of all ages.
One of the highlights of Beckett Park is its iconic stone observation tower, which stands tall and provides breathtaking views of Melbourne and even Mount Macedon in the northwest. Please note that the tower is only accessible when Maranoa Gardens is staffed and weather conditions permit.
Children will be delighted by the extensive playground, filled with ramps, swings, slides, monkey bars, and even an in-ground trampoline. They can also explore the wooden maze, where they can lose themselves in a world of adventure.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate Beckett Park's commitment to preserving indigenous plants. This park is adjacent to Maranoa Gardens and serves as an important revegetation site for these native species. Take a leisurely stroll through the grassy woodlands, and you'll feel transported back in time to over a century ago.
When it's time for a break, head over to the shaded picnic tables and enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by the park's natural beauty. Beckett Park was once known as One Tree Hill and was a traditional site for Empire Day bonfires in the 1940s and 1950s. It is also home to a war memorial, adding a touch of history and significance to this already enchanting place.
Conveniently located near Mont Albert train station, Beckett Park is easily accessible for both locals and tourists alike. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat in nature, a fun-filled adventure for the kids, or a place to learn about indigenous plants and history, Beckett Park has it all. "A wonderful find for my three year old To explore. However, it concerns me greatly that dog owners think it is ok To let their dogs (large ones) rush the little people in the playground area and think it is ok because ‘oh he is friendly’. It is not ok to allow your dogs to bowl over children in the playground, try to eat their food or make them scream in fear. Happened twice on Saturday 1/7/23. Otherwise, if the dogs are kept away, then it is brilliant !"
"Beautiful park surrounded by bush. The kids love the watchtower you can climb."
"There's a great playground for kids here that's well maintained. It can cater for lots of children as it has lots of equipment and play area's for exploration. It could do with some additional seating for parents and there is a lack of lawn area surrounding the pay ground"
"Fairly small but interesting park for a walk or a casual day out. There is a tower to climb for some great views (spiral staircase and ladder), as well as a playground, parking and toilets. Joined to the Maranoa Gardens. Great local visit."
"A hidden gem in the suburbs. The Botanical gardens are great. Parking is good. Toilets too. A tower with a great lookout-you can see the bay! A maze for the kids. Some protected bush. A little bit of everything. Lots of seats. I saw only 1 picnic table. We were there in winter and it was really cold and windy. Apart from that it was great;"
