B-24 Liberator Memorial Australia Princes Highway, Werribee, Victoria 3030
About the Business
Welcome to the B-24 Liberator Memorial Australia, a unique establishment and museum located at Werribee, Princes Highway. As a point of interest and tourist attraction, we are dedicated to restoring Australia's only surviving B-24 Liberator, an iconic aircraft from World War II.
This remarkable aircraft holds great historical significance, as it is the only remaining Liberator in the Southern Hemisphere and one of only eight still in existence worldwide. The intricate restoration work is taking place in one of the impressive World War II hangars on the old Werribee airfield, just outside Melbourne in Victoria. Our ultimate goal is to completely restore the airframe, preserving its legacy for future generations.
We are proud to offer a virtual tour of the restoration process, brought to you by Barney Meyer and Mark Hassed from hiddenmelbourne.com.au. This immersive experience allows you to witness the meticulous craftsmanship and dedication that goes into bringing this magnificent aircraft back to its former glory.
Starting from 1st January 2023, we have made a slight adjustment to our hangar entry donation. In order to continue our important work as a Not-for-Profit organization, we kindly request a donation of $10.00 for entry. However, entry remains free for individuals under 16 years of age, ensuring that young aviation enthusiasts can also appreciate this historical gem.
As you plan your next adventure, we invite you to explore the Aviation Museums of Australia, where you can delve into the rich aviation heritage of our country. Our museum provides a captivating experience for aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and families alike.
For the latest updates on the ongoing aircraft restorations at our Werribee hangar and upcoming events, we encourage you to visit our B-24 Liberator Facebook page. Stay connected with us and be part of our community of aviation enthusiasts.
If you have a passion for aircraft restoration and a desire to contribute to our cause, we warmly welcome volunteers to join our B-24 Liberator restoration group. Whether you possess skills in aircraft restoration, engineering, hangar maintenance, museum collection management, or simply have a love for aviation, we can always use your expertise. As a new volunteer, you may be assigned a mentor or participate in a training and familiarization period through our buddy system. Please note that your commitment would require you to travel to the restoration hangar and museum in Werribee, Victoria.
Join us in preserving the legacy of the B-24 Liberator and honoring the brave individuals who served during World War II. Together, let us ensure that this historic aircraft continues to inspire and educate generations to come.

"Great experience, highly recommend taking the kids along to visit some living history and a way to appreciate the present while respecting the sacrifices of the past."
"Great piece of WW2 history, kept alive by a great group of people. A must see for anyone interested in aviation or war history."
"Excellent small museum and very informative and engaging volunteers. Well worth the $5 entry and went on a day when they did a R1830 engine run (check ahead for those days) and well worth the extra $5 on top of entry to see the running engine up close. Special mention for they guy who gave the detailed demonstration and explanation of the Norden bomb sight."
"Amazing place to visit very educational and what an aircraft! Hopefully the government will soon help with this project. Only $5 entry and they desperately need help with funds to finish the project. Only one left in the southern hemisphere!"
