Werribee Park
About the Business
Welcome to Werribee Park, a magnificent establishment located in Werribee South, Australia. Immerse yourself in the opulence of Werribee Park, a historic estate that was built on the prosperity of an Australian pastoral empire. Discover the heritage-listed Werribee Mansion, where you can marvel at its grandeur and explore the beautifully manicured formal gardens. Don't miss the breathtaking sight of the Victoria State Rose Garden when its 5000 roses burst into a kaleidoscope of colors.
Step into the Werribee Mansion and be transported to a bygone era. Enjoy a leisurely picnic amidst the stunning surroundings or take a stroll through the meticulously designed formal gardens, complete with a grotto and an ornamental lake. As you wander through the estate, you'll notice the contrast between the elaborate craftsmanship of the Chirnside Mansion and the remaining bluestone outbuildings of the farmyard, which serve as a reminder of the estate's working past. Make your way to the heritage orchard, where you can witness the dedication of the community and Parks Victoria in preserving and restoring the Chirnside family's fruit orchard, originally planted in the late 1800s.
The best part is, entry to Werribee Park Gardens and the Victoria State Rose Garden is absolutely free. Just keep in mind that our car park gates close at 5:30 pm on weekdays and 6:30 pm on weekends and public holidays.

During the pleasant summer temperatures, why not enjoy a picnic or barbecue at the Werribee Park Picnic Area? From here, you can admire the Victoria State Rose Garden and the stunning mansion. If you visit in March, you'll be treated to a vibrant display of autumn roses in the Victoria State Rose Garden, complemented by the colorful trees in the formal garden. Even in winter, when the weather might be gloomy, the Werribee Mansion remains open year-round, offering audio tours, a cozy café for morning tea, and the opportunity to explore the enchanting gardens.
For rose enthusiasts, the Victoria State Rose Garden is a must-visit. From October to late July, you can witness the first flush of colorful blooms, with the roses reaching their peak in November. Don't forget to wander down to the orchard and witness the apple trees in full blossom.

"Love the space you have. Just a little dusty.. African feeling for sure. Favourite is the Werribee mansion. And then the zoo. Good place to go for a quick drive from Melbourne. Less than an hour drive"
"Beautiful park and mansion! Worth visiting. Great huge park and walking trails, gardens and trees. Relaxing and entertaining..."
"The mansion is absolutely beautiful. I love how each room was preserved as best possible, you can clearly see the value and appreciation for the history of the place. The rest of the park is also gorgeous if you enjoy being surrounded by nature."
"Had beautiful High Tea at Joseph's after we wandered around stunning grounds . Rose garden huge , will go back in the spring to see them at their full potential"
"Stunning grounds are accessible for free, small charge to enter the beautiful mansion, which we thought was well worth paying. Clean toilets accessible from outside the building. We had a light meal at The Refectory and I had the best scones I've had in many years. Excellent service, too. Planning to come back next time we're in Melbourne, for sure."
