"This cinema is located on the Central Lawn at Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. There are ample and easy to find parking spaces nearby as well as convenient public transport by bus and tram including cycling. You will enjoy the unique experience of watching movies under the stars."
"Great night out in the summer. Grab some picnic supplies and enjoy a nice movie on a warm summer night. You can BYO booze and food. You'll see flying foxes circling over you as the show plays on the screen."
"I had the platinum experience but have previously been with just general admission. Staff were nice but not very knowledgeable on what or where things were. The bean bag seats were comfy but I don’t know if that and a blanket justifies the price. Perhaps including some snack or drink too? Next time I wouldn’t bother paying extra for a bed and just bring a picnic rug. Still a nice night activity"
"Fabulous experience watching a movie in the beautiful Bot Gardens with flying foxes overhead and the city in the background. Very well organised with lots of helpful staff to assist. You can rent a beanbag chair for $10, and I would recommend a blanket even on warm nights as the breeze can chill you after dark. Enter via gate D of the gardens on Birdwood Ave. There are vans selling some food and drinks, but the ideal is to bring a picnic dinner and arrive around 7pm to eat before the movie. This also means that you can get a great location for eating and viewing."
"Such a different way to watch a movie, in the botanic gardens, under the stars, with birds flying above, and fireflies above. I’d describe this as a movie + experience. It’s like a picnic and a movie, with an outdoors camping vibe, bundled into one. It’s definitely a family friendly experience (you can get your well behaved dog as well on a leash). Now that I’ve experienced this once, will definitely come back again. You could get a picnic blancket and supplies (nibbles, a bottle of wine, plastic cups, a rubbish bag), blankets to snuggle in when the movie starts and it’s dark (it does get cold and a bit windy at times) and I’d recommend some bug spray for the mosquitoes. There’s food trucks and drink trucks over there as well to buy supplies from before the movie (although I didn’t try it- seemed good)"
