"Had a great experience for my husband's 60th birthday meal for just the 2 of us. Had not been here before, and it was a Wednesday evening. When I went to book, an Italian degustation menu was on as a special event , so I went with it. The food was amazing! Highlights were the smoked eel tartlet in the starter plate, the so tasty smoked fish risotto with artichoke cooked in 3 different ways. But all the dishes were v v tasty. A very relaxed and old school attentive service, not invasive or obtrusive. I can't have sugar desserts (I let them know on the booking) so they were v kind to give me cheese/lavosh plate instead. Lovely room, not noisy , so a good atmosphere to talk. We took our own wine as some BYO options ( check on their website) . For the quality of the food and the good vibes, I felt it was v good value for a special meal out"

"Absolutely incredible surprise. Every dish was phenomenal but special mention for the snapper, Comte de custard, and the beetroot tart. Would highly recommend - the staff were an added extra and we will be coming back again soon."

"Where do I start with the praise for this exquisite restaurant! From the owner meeting us at the door, to the last fork fall this was not just an outstanding meal, but a wonderful fine dining experience we'll remember forever. From the wait staff to the bar, the team here is phenomenal. My compliments to James, the bartender, for making the best "Old Fashioned Twist" in this hemisphere! Our table had the "degustacion" meal and the cook did not dissapoint. Each of the five courses were nothing short of an awesome taste surprise! I really liked the 4th course - Prawn and Koshihirakare Risoto - sooo rich! Other cocktails we tried were the "Pink Herring" and the "Amber Spice Sour"....pure perfection on the tongue! Get there a little early and enjoy happy hour prices! Perfect for a date night with your gal or a much needed break from normal pub fare. This place is the real deal, with a great vibe and nice atmosphere...I'll keep it on my "must return list"."

"Truly one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The food was exceptional (I had the squid ink spaghetti, which was unreal), the setting is comfortable and the service was extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive; all the staff were very knowledgeable about the food and drinks on offer. I’d implore anyone visiting Manly to come here for lunch/dinner - worth seeing if you can book in advance at the weekend."

"After looking at Manly as best we could, it was time to find an appropriate restaurant for our review. Of course, this must have been a seafood place. Pretty soon, the decision was made on "The Herring Room". The service was fantastic. Very accommodating and friendly with great recommendations, even though she took care of every table on her own. The food was really delicious. Now I have to say that we have been pretty disappointed in Sydney until now, but here the taste, the preparation was really perfect. In short, an excellent restaurant with excellent cuisine!"
