"Last nights spontaneous dinner choice @yachiyojapanesebistro in Darlinghurst. Whilst it’s not immaculate presentation, the food was nice and it isn’t crazy expensive. We had their sashimi, Balmain bug sushi, miso grilled cod (this only $22) and slow cooked wagyu! Casual dining space and beer on tap."
"Very cosy and intimate vibes. Fresh seafood and very friendly service. We tried the omakase there however we were not seated right in front of the chef. They brought the food to our table. If trying omakase - try to get a bar seat otherwise it takes the whole experience out of the omakase."
"A good selection of sake, tap beers, Japanese gins, other spirits, plum wine (ume shu). A la carte nigiri sushi selection is good, split into everyday and rare seafoods. Kingfish carpaccio very fresh, as was the chu toro tuna and scallop nigiri sushi we ordered. Many fried and deep fried options available, including pop corn cauliflower, agedashi toufu and oblong gyoza that manages to replicate the taste of the classic Aussie sausage roll down to a T but is sadly a far cry from the pan fried gyoza of Ichiban Boshi. Flavours and presentation of all the dishes we tried overall were quite acceptable but not exceptional. Friendly and helpful staff. 3.5 stars for this quintessential Darlo Road Izakaya experience. Would I go back? Maybe, given the right circumstances."
"One of my fave Japanese in Sydney and I have been coming here for years. I ordered the slow cooked wagyu, chicken katsu and battered whiting. Oh my, the wagyu was flavoursome and just melted in my mouth! I am very picky with my katsu as I often found them overcooked and dry, but their chicken katsu is the best one I've ever had. So tender, moist and the right amount of crunch. And their battered whiting was also yummy too."
"Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Food has always been great! I came back here from time to time and quality have never dropped. Recently, booked for a group of 7 and ordered the Me so hungry set. Very generous portion. Good food and good value for money."
