"My partner and I came here for dinner on a busy Saturday evening. We had a booking at 8:30pm, the place was busy throughout the evening until when we left at 11pm. We had the Feed Me banquet menu. There were a total of 7 delicious, mouth watering and beautifully presented Vietnamese dishes. The food was full of flavours, every dish was tasty. I was even more impressed with the service: the lady who waited our table (a Western looking lady) was extremely pleasant, kind and attentive; she cleaned our table several times between courses (something I don’t normally see even in expensive fine dining restaurants). The atmosphere was very cozy, the restaurant was beautifully lit with warm light and the deco reminds you of old Vietnamese charm. A total winner from chef Luke Nguyen!"
"It takes more than talent to survive in Sydney hospitality for over 20 years. Beyonnd delicious food and great service, Red Lantern keeps evolving to give me more of what I want. These days you can wander in for a street food snack and cocktail in the front bar, dine with friends in cosy Indochine booths, or grab a takeaway from the Crown Lane Drive Thru. Still the best ever salt & pepper squid and Chef Mark Jensen gives a great haircut at The Cut Barber Shop out the back too too!"
"A really enjoyable dining experience. All the dishes were cooked beautifully and full of flavour. The service was wonderful. The restaurant was full but not noisy. We tried the specials and my favourites were the rice cakes and the prawn sugercane. We also tried the 3 desserts and they were spectacular. I am not a fan of Asian desserts but these were at another level."
"We are huge fans of Luke's restaurant in the Brisbane treasury casino and go many times each year... perhaps that means we had unreasonable expectations for Red Lantern. On our recent trip to Sydney, Red Lantern was on our 'must do ' list....we wish we'd gone somewhere else. The good...the staff and the service was impeccable. But the food whilst perfectly good was just that 'good'.... we had expected great and hoped for exceptional. The meals were very small and very expensive. The space was small and the tables were very close together. Despite no large groups and no seemingly noisy guests the atmosphere was very noisy. I'm sure that there must be many Sydney restaurants that would be better for the same price or cheaper for the same quality and quantity."
"Wait staff were very professional, courteous and attentive. Ambiance is relaxed and not pretentious (slightly loud at times but comfortable). Food is phenomenal with every dish being quite unique and very fresh. Many reasons to return to this place!"
