Reviews of Cotters Bar
"Best pint of Murphys in Ireland."
"Gorgeous day walking around Cape Clear and ended up in Cotter’s for lunch. We were going to have a sandwich but the girl at the bar told us that the seafood chowder had just being added to the menu. We thought that chowder here should be brilliant and ordered two bowls. We were told the cost would be €14 per bowl. OK, seems expensive but it must be good in a location like this …..we thought. The reality was quite a shock. It took 15mins for the food to arrive, the seafood chowder was not based on seafood. There was no flavour of fish or fish stock and the liquid had been made largely from vegetables (mainly undercooked turnip) and each bowl contained 6 mussels and a few shrimps plus a couple of small pieces of an unidentifiable “fish”. In summary, the quality of the chowder was appalling and this level of gouging at €14 for a bowl of miserable chowder gives a really poor impression of what Ireland is capable of offering to the tourists who come to visit this beautiful part of Ireland."
"Lovely spot. Very close to North Harbour. They've stout (Guinness and Murphy's), IPAs (Sherkin Lass) and larger (Heineken) on tap, selection of bottled beers (Corona, didn't pay attention to the others), non alcoholic drinks and great range of spirits. Really nice outdoor dining space with some shelters from the sun/rain and picnic benches. Great view of the Harbour and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are a delight (Nessa, Roisin, Cian, Louise and Kayley were the ones we were lucky enough to get to chat to), and very welcoming. Some lovely grub too, especially the Union Hall salmon open face sandwich and the Clonakilty black pudding&rasher toastie. Great place to lunch or a good evening out and a lot of craic! Definitely recommend!"
"Wonderful home cooking. Came here for dinner. Simple fresh food. Amazon roast potatoes!!"
