"Ideal stop over site for walkers in area. Room not made up when I arrived at 5pm but immediately attended to. Comfortable bed... a must... clean.... quiet so good sleep. Restaurant dinner good choices and reasonable ... steak excellent. Bed & Breakfast package inc dinner very reasonable. Staffing seemed quite limited so reception desk not reachable directly on phone. But a lost item was recovered when eventually contact was made"
"Went intending to go for dinner and drinks with friends. However, after ordering drinks and having a disagreement with the barman serving what what supposed to be a double whiskey and him doing nothing to correct it except getting angry we weren't impressed. Others were sending back drinks at the same time. We eventually gave up waiting to order food as staff seem to have no set area to cover and it wasn't easy to get someone's attention. Location good, service questionable."
"This hotel is in a fabulous location. However, it is a nice hotel but a little tired and could do with a face-lift. We stayed in February, we were very lucky with the weather as it was very mild. Although the heating was on day and night, we found the rooms a bit cool, but I think that may be because of the age of the building. Breakfast was really good, there was a good variety of food on offer. The hotel staff were great, but I can not say the same for the barman. A glass of wine is around the same price as most places, but it comes in a very small glass, which is half full, I asked why and I was told that was the measure they gave. This was very much a rip-off, and the barman was not a bit courtious. We did eat in the bar on our first night and paid the waitress for our food. As we left, the barman came after us and asked us how we would like to pay. Needless to say, we didn't go near the bar again. Outside of our experience in the bar, our stay was very nice, and I would stay here again for the location. Glendalough is fabulous."
"Had a great time here, Glendalough is a fantastic place to visit and explore. The hotel is exactly what it is, an older traditional Irish hotel (apparently the future Edward VII visited it in 1871). What sets it apart was the staff and their positive attitude. Although clearly kept very busy they were always positive and were always able to provide all we required. Rooms were basic enough but they were warm, beds were comfortable, and everything was clean and neat. If you're going to stay in Glendalough I recommend this characterful hotel."
"The food at this hotel is always amazing, year on year. Great gluten free options too. Got back from a frosty walk and had a delicious beef stew, can't beat it"
