"Gianni appears to be a good plumber in terms of workmanship but he was not honest with us on costs. We paid, as agreed, his hourly rates + parking + parts. However, when he charged us, he inflated the costs for parts massively. For example, he charged us £245 for a Grundfos UPS3 15-50/65 boiler pump. The absolute maximum this will cost you, either local shop or online, is £145 and that includes VAT (and if you have a trade discount, obviously it would cost much less) When we challenged Gianni on this, he could not provide details of where he purchased the part from. Instead, he just said he charges "20% in top for all parts" which is not something that was mentioned upfront and the maths still does not add up. We're disappointed. If he wanted more money, he could have just raised his hourly rate and we would at least not have felt cheated. Apart from this, he was polite, punctual and did a good job."
