Reviews of Hearsall Common
"When to OMG planet circus when it was here was really good so skilled will recommend going"
"went there for barker’s fun fair, an excellent space to have events like that. really spacious and green."
"I have added some photos of when the plaque was unveiled to commemorate Sir Frank Whittle who as a child he first saw a plane land on the Common. The ceremony was attended by Sir Frank's son Ian Whittle, Trevor Baylis inventor of the wind up radio, whose hero was Sir Frank, and Richard Greene who broke the land speed record. The children from Sir Frank Whittle Primary School attended and sang a song dedicated to Sir Frank. Interestingly the plaque which was unveiled was on the other side of the plinth on which it now stands. The ceremony took place on 5th May 1998. I have added some further pictures on this site which I took from the allotments next to the Common on the May Bank Holiday in 2005. There were several hot air balloons launched from the Common which was quite a spectacle as they rose up from behind the tree line in the allotments."
