"I’ve worked with the guild since 2016, mostly full time, and can safely say it’s the best move I ever made. My work/life balance is great, I get as much time with my family as I want, I’m there for every special occasion and let’s face it working less hours for more money is nothing to be sniffed at. I understand the recruitment process can be gruelling but I honestly never found it to be so, I found the whole joining process very straight forward. The Guild, as employers, are also very supportive with whatever is going on with me personally, over the years they have supported me through a couple of life altering events and I couldn’t praise them high enough."
"Joining the guild has allowed me to enjoy nursing again, I get to be a nurse and care for my patients, without any of the drama"
"Currently employed with the Scottish Nursing Guild. Fantastic company to work for. Always an abundance of shifts, flexible with fantastic pay rates. 10/10 would recommend."
"Bizarre criteria required just to apply. Applied as a CSW after retiring as a trained nurse. Now happily working on nurse bank. Been told I now must work 6 months as a CSW in the same area just to get a reference as a CSW, and that's just to get past the first interview. Prefer to work where I choose on the bank, not where SNG dictate I work to in order to reach what they deem to be experience. I have a lifetime of experience in nursing, thanks. They harassed me to have this interview to repeat the above info. Pointless exercise and a waste of everyone's time. Update in response to SNG. I have no problem providing references. While you asked me where I worked for the last 2 years, it became irrelevant when you stipulated I now must work 6 months on the nurse bank in only 1 area to obtain an acceptable reference. Many years trained experience and highly skilled is not sufficient 'quality' worthy of CSW/HCA role. Seems skewed to me and I'm lost on it, sorry. This is not about availability of references and it can't be about experience if 6 months in one area overrides lengthy and varied experience. SNG expect you to endure abatement just to prove yourself worthy. Not a risk I can take, sorry."
"Really poor, difficult and drawn out recruitment process, being told to upload a ridiculous amount of documents online with a signatory to prove they were real and then being told the next week to post every bit of ID that I own because they had decided to change the process. Then 3 months after the initial application, having gone through the process of requesting and received references I was then told I don't have enough experience for the role despite working for 3.5 years as a community nurse and actively working as a specialist nurse in a branch of community nursing for the last 2 years, holding my own caseload. Having read the other reviews I wish I had done so before applying to save myself time as it seems to be that a lot of specialist nurses have had similar issues and our experience and knowledge isn't valued."
