"I was looking for a budget friendly stay in the centre of Old town. I booked en suite room and there was nothing to complain about the room. It was pretty neat and decent. It was also safe for solo traveler. The location is the true highlight and the vibe in general is quirky and hip. My only issue ( well it s not on the hostel) was that there was a female dormitory opposite my room. There was constant banging of the doors and loud chats and what not, from those who stayed there. They absolutely disrespected other people s privacy and kept me awake the whole night. If you are looking for a calmer quiet place, this is not it !!"
"My stay at the hostel was great. The staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful. In terms of hygiene, the rooms were cleaned daily and so were the beds. The only thing I did not like about my stay was that I was locked out twice during my stay as my room card was deactivated by mistake. It has also got locker room which is great when you are travelling but have checked out of the hostel. Unfortunately, I missed out on the daily events which are great for meeting new people. Overall, it's a great budget place to stay in Edinburgh."
"Okay, I personally didn’t have any qualms with the service or room. That being said definitely some less than wonderful ongoings. Laundry wasn’t working, not even for staff to wash towels and sheets, food was stolen out of the communal fridge, they do not appear to sweep or mop floors including bathroom. I was in the room when they cleaned bathroom and didn’t clean the shower (which wasn’t draining during our stay in a 12 girl dorm.) when I was in the room and the staff was changing sheets they were putting the pillows, after taking the sheets off, on the floor!!! Then picking them up putting on new covers and the pillows back on the bed. Also please be aware not all rooms have individual plugs or curtains! I spoke with one lady in a 4 person dorm and there was one plug for the entire room and no curtains!"
"Our stay at St Christopher’s Inn was absolutely disappointing. There was not a clean surface in the whole building past the reception. The kitchen/common room had a very strong weird smell, the microwave was dirty beyond disgusting. The bathroom of the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned for way too long and the walls of the shower and the ceeling were black from the mold. Also, the floor of the bathroom and the room was sticky and full of dust and dirt. When it comes to the room, the pillows weren’t comfortable at all and they’re way too crowded for the space there is. To do a fair review I must say that breakfast was not bad for the price it had, but there were not many vegetarian or gluten-free options and no option at all for vegans. To end the review on a “good note”, the location couldn’t be better whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or with friends. And the hostel staff was very friendly and welcoming and treated us impeccably. So, to sum it up, it wasn’t a horrific experience but I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying in this hostel and I am definitely not coming back."
"The staff was quite nice and helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel is a bit shabby. Mattress and cover bed really not hygienic. The elevator did not work - to get to our room it was tedious (5th floor). In the room we could not stand upright - attic room. The bathroom is very very small. Shower about 40 x 40 cm. I would recommend the hotel only to people with very low demands."
