"Can’t stress enough that if you don’t want to lose £500 on a deposit for no good reason, then avoid this letting agency/landlord. Really follows the old stereotypes of landlords exploiting students. Stunning stuff. In response to Davies Associates reply below, happy to provide evidence to anyone interested in pursuing a relationship with this frightening landlord. They really were abysmal and would often enter our property without warning during the height of COVID. Also charged us unfathomable amounts for carpet cleaning costs despite no carpet! Disgusting treatment of their customers. The holes mentioned below is completely untrue, and we have the pictures and videos to prove it before and post our time in the Southampton property. AVOID!"
"If I could give 0 I would. If there is any dispute in the legitimacy of this review. I can and will provide evidence. A quick summary. The house was damp disgusting and dangerous The landlord is a liar, rude and will ignore you and deny any issues. You will be charged from your deposit. Regardless of how much evidence you provide of an immaculate property. In more detail. We were given a rent reduction of 1/12 which was supposed to represent a month we were told we could not use the property for as the kitchen was being refitted. When we finally arrived work had barely begun and no additional compensation was offered. We just lived for weeks without an oven or kitchen sink. The house was also filthy and had cigarette smoke imbedded in the walls, an issue which was never handled. Duncan continuously denied the presence of a category 1 health risk, mould originating from the base of the bed I had to sleep in. At one stage suggesting that if there was mould and I wanted it gone I should not live in or breathe in the room. This coupled with the smoke in the walls and furniture has caused lasting breathing problems for some tenants. There were a multitude of other issues associated with the property. Primarily damp and poor quality workmanship. This would have been manageable if Duncan wasn't so continuously rude. At times he and his workmen were rather sexist. When a tennant moved out without notice we were heavily pressured into going with the first person who came along regardless of how suitable they were. When it came to moving out we ended up having a long email exchange to get him not to charge us excessively for cleanliness issues which were not present and as such he could not prove. We had provided over 800 photos and videos of the property in immaculate condition and he still attempted to charge us all the same."
