"This was a great place for an intimate gig, whether standing or in the balcony you are not far from the performing artist! I went to watch James Bay, he was awesome, would definitely go back to watch him. The venue itself was good, I queued for 45 mins outside before the doors opened, there is a bag restriction policy so check that out. My tickets were unreserved seating in the lower balcony, which were basic padded benches separated by a set of steps - nowhere near enough seats for everyone to go round, so it’s first come first served, or you’re standing around the outside of the balcony area near the bars! Good acoustics and lighting, if you get a seat you’re not allowed to stand up to dance. Drinks at the bar weren’t cheap, £6.50 for 2 Pepsi’s, £6 per pint. There is no car parking at the venue itself but there are plenty of car parks nearby, Digbeth coach station is just across the road, Moor St train station is a 10-15 min walk away."
"Great venue, with a convenient bar in the balcony area. One criticism is that (having a back injury) I booked in the balcony because it was listed as a seated area. We understood an "unreserved seating" ticket to mean that everyone was seated but not in reserved seats. It turns out that there were nowhere near enough seats for everyone and many of us were left standing (even though we arrived quite soon after 'doors'). Gig caused me a great deal of pain. They should sell the balcony tickets as "unreserved seating and standing" to make it clear that not everyone will have a seat."
"Never been before and wasn't expecting it to be so small. Like a trip back to the 90's with sticky floors and boxy seats. Loved it. Great to see an act in such a small venue."
"I have attended this venue many times over the years, and Institute 3 is the smallest of the 3 levels, as a result, it is the most intimate. An ideal setting to launch "Blue nations" new EP "Echos" Due to technical issues, the gig started a little later that intended, but, that did not dampen the experience one bit. The staff were excellent and the layout superb."
"Fantastic venue, nice and small for brilliant intimate performances. Teddy swims was amazing. Only con was that they didn't make clear what line was for which concert. Other than that, was amazing!!"
