"Price good. Nice service."
"I literally walked into the yard and said: I know nothing about woodworking and I want to build a shed - can you hook me up with some wood? The person behind the counter said sure and suggested the appropriate materials and a mini-design off the cuff. Stuff arrived at my doorstep earlier than promised, and now I have a shed and a bit of spare wood to build the shelves in it! Perfect."
"Highly recommend this company. They were professional, quick, kind and informative from first reaching out to receiving the final product."
"I needed some batten for my Roman Blinds I'd never visited this timber merchant, so did not know how they operated. I did see one of the staff seeing to someone who was having something cut on what looked like a band saw. I noticed the sort of thing I was looking for at the back and made my way over the select 2 pieces. I went back to the front where 2 men (one younger than the other) were drinking tea. As they did not look at me I said sorry for interrupting, but could they cut the battens? One of them looked at me coldly and said 'we don't cut wood here' and the both of them waited for my reaction. OOOOK I said, so how will I be able to take it with me it was around 8 ft long and all I had was my large suitcase, no car. The older one gestured towards a saw.....in other words .......you cut it yourself and then continued staring at me to see what my reaction would be. I then asked if there was anything to measure it with. The younger one got a tape rule. I did manage to cut it up, BUT only the one because I really needed it. I left the 2nd one as I was thinking why should I part with my money with with such rudeness. It's obviously not their business so they could not care less. BUT there are 2 things to note My husband suggested I go there because it's not far from where we live HOWEVER, when I told him about my experience he mentioned that our neighbor (who he was doing some work for) had a similar experience. I wonder if it's the fact that we were both women? Incidentally she was spending hundreds....imagine if they did that to others how much business could be lost? To the directors of Wood Green Timber - be careful because while you can charge a premium for materials in this post Brexit/post Covid climate, things will calm down and then customers will vote with their feet. AND IF as I suspect it's about women entering into a non traditional space, be careful because I attend an evening class in basic carpentry and shared my experience with the lecturers and the rest of the class. Let's not forget bad needs travels better than good."
"So happy and impressed with this timber merchant. We arrived on a busy Saturday morning and asked them to do about 30 cuts for us on MDF and plywood (length and width). They agreed and had it done in 30 minutes! All cuts were perfect when we got home. They used a drawing I provided with all of the measurements. Good price for everything - you have to pay for the cuts but this is understandable."
