"Me and my partner went 25th March 2023 (yesterday) we sat down to the table at 6.30pm for dinner...and didn't leave until after 9pm. The service was extremely slow, the manager (who was more than helpful and apologetic about the service) even had to give us a complimentary drink because of the wait. The starter was lovely even though we waited around an hour for it, however when the main came which was a steak for the both of us, was not cooked to our request (medium) it was over done and tough. We were then told that the chief had not even started on the sauce to accompany it! So we had to eat dry steak. The chips were amazing however... but overall not the best experience at all and the poor manager was having to explain this to not only us but other customers also, even though the chief kept walking past us. As I said the manager was amazing and her complimentary drink was appreciated and she also gave us £5 off. But my partner still paid over £50 for the meal."
"Really love it here. We like to come on a Sunday for our Sunday dinner and the food has never disappointed, the roast beef is the best dinner we’ve had! Good size portions and good price. It’s also nice in the summer months when you can sit outside in the sun for a drink after a nice bike ride"
"Attended here with family for my Mum's 79th Birthday. Pauline and the chief made us so welcome. There was 8 of all together, which included my 2 year old granddaughter. They were respectful and helpful. We told them it was for my Mum's birthday they got here a card and the cake were ordered was wonderful. Will return. Thank you Pauline and your staff for helping make my Mum's birthday memorable. Mr Jarrod Barton"
"I'm reviewing a meal for four, and not the accommodation. I really like the venue, great open fire, and we were very well looked after (it was exceptionally quiet as the football was on - apparently!). So... reviewing the veggie lasagne - wonderful, one of the best ever. Served with gorgeous chips and a lovely salad. The meat lasagne was equally as good. Very happy with the gammon, again. But ... sadly the steak was a real let down. It was the most expensive of the 4 meals at £20, and was actually burnt one side - supposedly medium rare !! We did tell the chef, who explained that his griddle was in need of replacing so it was 'hit and miss' getting it right, joking he suggested adding mayo to make it taste better !! So ... three wonderful meals, really delicious. One very very poor meal. Will definitely try again."
"We took a friend here for a lunchtime meal to find it was first day of their new Chef, we can only wish he stays there for years. all our Meals were great, all freshly prepared and large portions. mostly supplied from local sources so we plan to return soon to this proper village Pub with good choice of Ales and friendly Landlady. we noted too it was a Dog Friendly establishment...can highly recommend it"
