“Having relocated during the COVID-19 pandemic in December 2021, Biggera Waters Family Practice [BWFP] was the first medical practice I visited. Due to the genuine care I have received, I would not consider changing from BWFP, unless I moved off the Gold Coast. Dr. Fariba and all the staff here have taken the time to get to know me and have consistently shown an understanding of my ongoing chronic issues. First, let me address the common concern about wait times, as it holds an important reason behind it. What sets this practice apart is ensuring that patients are given the time they need to discuss their health issues. This is not a place that adheres strictly to a schedule, rather the individual needs of the patient, without the notion of "we'll get to that next time." For example: I had an appointment to update medication , and I mentioned that my usual low heart rate had gotten considerably lower. Dr Fariba immediately gave me an ECG and found a 3rd Degree Atrioventricular Heart Block, and immediately found an appointment with a Cardiologist the next day. This took more time than expected for the appointment, and of course added to the wait time of those to follow. Both the Cardiologist and Specialist fitting the resulting pacemaker remarked this was ‘well spotted’ by Dr Fariba, and not a moment too soon, as any event involving the heart would very likely ‘not have ended well’. Dr Fariba’s prompt action, rather than saying ‘keep an eye on that and come back if it continues’, may well have been life saving. I have now seen Dr. Fariba multiple times, and her care is nothing short of excellent. She has shown remarkable skill in accommodating a wide range of health needs, and her referrals have all been first rate.. Also, the administrative staff & nurses at BWFP are truly commendable. They work hard to ensure patients are seen to as soon as they can be, referrals are sent promptly, and questions are answered in a professional but personal way. Denise in particular has been extremely helpful in working around my restrictive work schedule offering phone consultations when I know the visit will only be a short one e.g. prescription re-issues [sent immediately to my phone], saving me a lot of time. The practice has on-site pathology services, Allied Health professionals who visit on specific days. While it is undeniably a busy practice, their ability to deliver excellent care, especially considering it is a Bulk Billing General Practice, is noteworthy, particularly considering the pressure Primary Health is under in Australia at the moment. Yes, the wait times can be longer than usual as the doctors take the time to understand each patient's needs, rather than rushing through appointments. However, the staff can provide estimates of when to arrive and wait if you call ahead. Alternatively, you can check in, get an estimate, and make the most of your time by enjoying a coffee or some shopping at the Metro Market shopping centre across the road. Dr. Fariba is an outstanding doctor who embodies qualities such as, active listening, kindness, and is not judgemental and provides professional opinions in a compassionate and personal manner as do all the Health Professionals at BWFP I've needed to see. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Fariba and the entire team at BWFP to anyone seeking consistent personal and attentive care. If you value continuity of care and want to be treated as an individual rather than just another appointment, I strongly encourage you to consider this practice for your primary healthcare needs.”

“Shapland's at Gaven provide a calm environment for my daughter to learn in. Belinda and Liz in particular have been patient and caring. They are responsible for the progress we have made. Lesson length and sizes are ideal. My daughter can get overstimulated with noise and crowds and we don't experience that at Shaplands. The magnesium pool means no chlorine smells or lingering skin issues. Staff are very responsive around admin tasks. Free make-up lessons are a game changer as we simultaneously navigate swimming lessons and the dreaded child-care illnesses.”
