“I walked into Jaycar last Tuesday a complete beginner at LEDs. I came with a list of questions in my head and the blind hope that someone there would be able to answer them. Luckily for me an amazing employee named Ryan went above and beyond expectations to help ensure that I got the products I was picturing and that the circuit I was planning on building would actually work. He was tall, blond and wore half round glasses, and is the reason I am definitely coming back to this store. He showed me how to test LEDs and spent at least half an hour with me helping me pick sizes, colours, brightnesses and voltage, constantly going back to the wall of LEDs to grab more and test more so I knew exactly what type of light they give off. He also spent time showing me how to cut my own lengths of wire from the self-serving wire bar, and helped me do the math required to buy the right resistors for a 4.5 v battery pack and the teeny tiny LEDs I was purchasing, which he said he knew from studying physics, something I think was really useful to explain to me how things worked and what kinds of things I would need to be careful for. Overall he was friendly and made me feel comfortable and didn’t belittle my lack of knowledge. He asked how familiar I was with concepts and products before he would explain them and he didn’t assume my knowledge level or talk down to me. His customer service was extraordinary and I think he deserves commendation for the effort, time and genuine care he put into helping me make sure my project works. I will be a returning customer to this store now, and someone should tell him what a splendid job he did.”
