Council Bluff School, located at 1631 County Road 120 in Valley Head, Alabama, is a historic institution that was built in 1903 near the top of Sand Mountain. The land for the school was donated by community members, and construction was led by Mr. Sam Cordell. Over the years, the school played an important role in the local community, with teachers such as Chris Crawford, Hester Smith, and Jenny Lowery educating generations of students. In 1924, Council Bluff School joined with other nearby schools to form a new institution at High Point. Despite efforts by the Council Bluff community to remain independent, the school ultimately consolidated with High Point.
