"The Jemison -Van De Graaff mansion is beautiful. I went for visit on March 10th 2023, I was greatly disappointed that I did not get to experience the tour. I drove a long ways to see the mansion, I didn't get a tour but I did walk around the mansion.I came conclusion that I not supposed to be walk around after meeting a bald, middle aged white gentleman who looked at me like I was going to tear the place up .I wish that I was actually able to receive a tour and that the bald, middle aged white gentleman had informed me that there was not going to be any tours, as he said to go down to the Battle Friedman house see the tour at 2:30 and I did and wasted my time. I can back to the mansion and found the door locked, like it should been in the first place, when closed.Called the number and officially learn of a event .Y'all need to update your website regularly and inform the public that you have an event going on what days.I shouldn't learn of an event by voicemail, phone call are not how people of the Twenty and Thirty age range look for info,ya'll are showing ya'll age. I am disappointed as a Alabamaian that this is experience was not as good as Pritchard house in Titusville, Florida or Molly Brown House Museum in Colorado Springs both of those societies had a regularly updated website, Facebook and kept with posted hours on signs located on premises. They also have events.I understand that historical societies need to make money and events are a good way to do that but people who want to experience and learn more about history are being neglected by lack of planning and care for visitors. I find that you are not using your tools effectively. Also lock your Mansion's door when not open to the public, your responsible for a lot of valuable history."
"I was in town for a few days for work. I decided to stop by, but they were closed. I walked around the outside of the property and got to see the beautiful architecture and the grounds. I looked online and didn't see any hours posted, so I went back a few days later, the parking lot was empty, closed. I'm sure it's a great tour and I probably just missed the hours somewhere. The building itself is beautiful."
"Excellent mansion. Very gorgeous, corteous and knowledgeable lady. Got to buy a nice book with the history of Tuscaloosa. Those are the tour times for the mansions."
"Brandon gave an awesome tour, very informative and intact. They have Jefferson Davis' French mirror from his Mississippi estate."
"We were here on a Monday so unable to take an interior tour but loved the architectural nuances of this beautiful home!"
