"The pediatric dept. wrote a referral to one of their other depts., so they could get paid for our visit, but would not write one for us to get my daughters prescription until we attended a well child visit....which they didn't have an available appt. for THREE MONTHS. They would not make any adjustments even though my child is NOT well, and these are WELL CHILD VISITS. I cant help but notice the distinct difference in the way we were treated after switching from BCBS to Medicaid during a layoff at my job. Shameful. The 2 star rating for this place is well earned. We switched pediatricians and were seen the following week. Banks get too big too fail. USA has gotten too big to succeed."
"Now, since I'm about to relocate states and finally able to find a different office for my children, I'm going to leave a long waited review. All three of my children have gone here for over three years and I've never experienced such an awful pediatrician office since becoming a parent. I can never get my children in for sick visits, and seeing their actual Pediatrician was only possible for yearly check-up appointments or to review my son's ADHD medication progress. And I cannot count the number of times the receptionists hung up on me or the nurses ever called me back over pressing situations. My nearby urgent care has cared more for my children's health and development then this office."
"If I could give zero stars I would. IF YOUR DECIDING BETWEEN HERE AND SOMEWHERE ELSE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME. Not only did I have a nurse tell me not to worry about my daughter having a fever unless it was ABOVE 105. They don’t call with lab results, they loose shot records, you can never make an appt, you always have to fall a month later, and you never see the same doctor’ There is only one pediatrician that actually knows what she is doing. I had a virtual appt for my daughter at 11 am. Went to the pharmacy at 12 pm and the prescription wasn’t there. They put in a memo for the nurse. And told me to call at 2 pm, if I haven’t heard anything from the pharmacy or the nurse. I call at 2 pm because I heard from no one and they put in another memo for the nurse. At 4 pm the pharmacy STILL didn’t have my daughters prescription, so I call AGAIN. I explain the situation, Nicely, and how I’m aggravated. No prescription at 4:30. Trying to get it before they close, I call again. They send in another memo and that’s it. So next day I wake up at 8am the pharmacy still doesn’t have the prescription. Guess what, another memo was sent in. I explain my aggravation and how it doesn’t seem like anyone cares. If my daughters life was on the prescription she’s be dead. It’s not 2 pm, I still have no prescription, no word from the nurse, no answers as to why no one cares that my daughter is having an allergic reaction, with a bad rash and NO ONE SEEMS TO CWRE IT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE. I’m not wasting anymore time. I’m just going to take her to urgent cwre. I’ve always thought the place was trash all the way from having my daughter to having to stay I the nicu for 2 WEEKS because my daughter had a low heart rate right before she was born WHICH CAN BE NORMAL. I’ve always given the benefit of the doubt because I haven’t had this big of a problem. SAVE YOUR TIME. they could careless about their jobs"
"I wish I was able to base this review off of our experience with the USA Healthy Life Center's medical treatment--unfortunately I am unable to do so because we have been rescheduled for an appointment twice over the course of 3 months. The first time, I made time in my schedule, even took my child out of school testing in order to keep this appointment. We arrive, and someone has scheduled us for a regular pediatric appointment, rather than intake at the Healthy Life specialists. After thirty minutes, someone comes over to inform me that someone will call us to make up this appointment and get us in as soon as the following week. I was disappointed, but I understand that scheduling errors occur, it happens, and I was happy move forward with the understanding that my daughter would be seen soon. I get a call a couple days later to schedule this appointment, and am advised that she will not be able to be seen until June, possibly July--an entire month from our original attempt to schedule. No one even finds her an appointment slot during this phone call, I am just advised of the waiting period. Fine. I'm irritated by it, but yes, I understand this is a busy practice that likely has a waiting list that can't take into account my previous poor experience with clinic scheduling. A couple weeks later someone calls to tell me that my child can be seen June 10th, so I say yes and book the appointment. (In this time, I've tried to find another clinic in Mobile that deals in the the same specialties as the Healthy Life clinic, but if they are out there, I must not be making the right google search because I've yet to find them.) June 10th comes, I've gotten the referral, I've filled out the pages of intake paperwork, we've mailed the entire pediatric history, I've found a babysitter for my other daughters, and again my oldest daughter and I head up to the Healthy Life Center. I've gotten over the inconvenience and miscommunications of our previous interactions and I'm just grateful to get my child there for an assessment. I'm at the check in desk and going through the sign in process, when the reception begins to look troubled and says, "Did someone call to to reschedule your appointment?" To which I reply no, I've received no missed calls from this clinic, I've received no messages, texts, or anything aside from an appointment confirmation call. The intake receptions excuses herself and returns with an LPN, who proceeds to inform me that someone should have called to tell me that our appointment was cancelled, the Doctor was not in, and that my daughter won't be seen until the END OF AUGUST. So at this point we've been shunted from May, to June, to August, this whole four month period, when school will have already started, which would necessitate taking my daughter away from her studies AGAIN, to attend this appointment. Each round, I have made time and childcare arrangements to keep my obligations because I respect the time limits of the doctors and nurses who dedicate long hours to making our children healthy. I want to be clear that the intake reception and the LPN I spoke with were very polite, and even though I was clearly irked at this last blow-off, they were apologetic. It is not their personal professionalism that I bear issue with--it's the lack of professionalism in the scheduling, and the general lack of care for the time of parents and children. We live complicated lives too, our time has value too. Most of all, my frustration is that of a parent who is doing what I can to be proactive about my child's health--this comment is borne, ultimately, out of my concern. Feel like I'm kind of standing there, waving toward my kid and asking for help, and this place is like, "Sure, but only when the stars align and Mercury is in retrograde and you can guess these riddles three, can you pass!" I'm having profound difficulty imagining a functional medical patient relationship with this clinic, at this point."
"We love our pediatrician, but when we make appointments and specifically ask to see her we are seen by a nurse practitioner or a med student. There isn't continuity of care in this office. The staff doesn't know how to direct calls for specific issues. The nurse practitioner Brantley speaks with attitude. I'm not from Mobile and chose this office because of it's affiliation with USA Women's and Children's and had heard amazing reviews on the hospital, but I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication, organization, and care that we have received. The waiting room wait times are extremely short but that doesn't make up for the poor quality of care."
