Dr. Lestina's academic journey began at Duke University, where she graduated with honors. She then pursued her medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, where she also served as chief resident. Her dedication to the field led her to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology at Dartmouth.
As a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Lestina is an active member of prestigious organizations such as the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
