"Ok, first, let's dispel a few things from the previous reviews: I counted 5 bridges rather than 32. Second, the water is deep. It only looks shallow due to algae that grows up to the surface. By my guess, the lagoons stretch out about 1.5 miles. With that, there is a portage ( a beaver dam I was told) that you will need to get out of the boat and lift it over to the other lagoon. We have 17 ft aluminum canoe and did it no problem, save for the bottom, which is soft mud, and will steal your shoes when you pull them 2 ft out of the muck. It is a neat trip with some views of the dunes most don't see. With that, we saw fish, herons, turtles, a hawk, other birds, and a muskrat. The parking near the launch is free and limited. Which means you should get there as early as possible. Additionally, there are few spots to stop and get out. The aforementioned beaver dam is really it. Overall, it was a fun paddle, and the beach is a short walk from the launch. Go check it out."

"Kayak and canoe launch for people of all abilities. Float under 32 scenic bridges and watch fish, turtles, and an occasional muskrat float by. Paddle past historic Marquette Pavillion and then under the Lake Street bridge right into the Indiana Dunes National Park! Beautiful oak savannas line some of shores as well as high sand dunes. Great bird watching spot and beautiful scenery."

"The Marquette Boat Launch is a relatively new installation at the Marquette Park Lagoon. The launch is actually for kayaks and canoes. It is handicapped accessible and is the first of its kind in Northwest Indiana. The launch makes it easy to board and de-board boats. The scenery around the lagoon is gorgeous and includes the Indiana Dunes National Park."
