"Accent homes is a cheap contractor that will cut corners when they can get away with it. After moving in to our new home they washed their hands of the issues that remained. I have uneven floor in the upstairs hallway that they won't fix. The stairs going to the basement are loose and extremely loud when you walk on them. They won't return calls or try to resolve these issues. Those are just the things I want them to take care of, I've already taken care of numerous other things that I could've called them about but didn't. It's supposed to be 2 year structural warranty but they tried telling me it's for the drywall cracks. I wouldn't use them again."

"My wife and I built a home in Lowell, Freedom Springs in 2018. Though Frank and Paul can be slow at times, they've been building homes for 40+ years, and it shows. Their standard features are upgrades with other builders and with a few minor hiccups they delivered on time. We got a wonderful home at an amazing price and we love our neighborhood. I would definitely recommend Accent Homes."

"I've had a problem with my yard since before we closed. I was promised it would be fixed. The "fix" they gave was barely different from what it was before. Frank said it was fixed and got overly defensive when I argued that it wasn't. Paul, at least, tried to understand me and did some research. Apparently there is a storm drain that is not in use that is way up from the street easement. No one knows why it's there, but for some reason it can't be taken out! The grade has to incorporate that into how it slopes. As a result, the grade of my yard on that side is completely unacceptable and Accent can't/won't do anything to fix it. At first I thought I could deal with it, but mowing is very treacherous. I'm surprised I've had as few near misses as I have with slipping down the yard. The top of the yard on that side, by the patio, has a huge hump so the grade is even more pronounced. Drainage is a nightmare. The yard is so steep, I've got trenches through my yard! The grass already won't grow because the yard is 85% clay and 15% rock, and the water drainage makes it even harder to grow! I told them they should not have allowed anyone to build on this lot or the one next door. Someone bought the one next door and they are finishing building now. Is their yard like mine? NOPE. Much easier grade and about 25% of the rocks my yard has, so now I'm furious. I have a 6' privacy fence up now, and from the street behind my house, cars are level with the bottom of my sliding door. That's outrageous! I have zero privacy from my back door! So now all I'm left with is trying some strategic landscaping (that's going to cost almost $1000 because materials are so expensive) to give me privacy and to try to cover the bald spots I have from grass not growing because the company they used put down straw and that awful netting stuff. The straw carried weed pollen on it, so the first summer, my yard (what grew) was seriously at least 75% weed. It was a nightmare! So embarrassing. I've hired a lawn service this year, but they can't aerate because of the "biodegradable" netting gets tangled in the machine. It's not the least bit biodegradable and it is impossible to try to rip it up! Other people in the neighborhood (Monastery Woods, BTW) have had yard problems, too. They can't seem to plan head to see how the yard is going to turn out, they just focus on the house and the yard is an after thought that either works out or doesn't. So don't use Accent Homes, they're shoddy and don't care to fix the problems. I've included pics of what the yard looks like standing at the bottom corner(literally, the bottom of the house is higher than your head), the slope that I have to try to mow on (worse than it looks actually), and the drop off from up by the house. Edit after their reply: I never got to look at the lot beforehand, they plopped a map down in front of me and told me to pick. They later told me "oh well the lot would have been better for a walkout...." And when I said why didn't they tell me that, their reply was "well we just do as the customer insists." I def in no way was demanding in my decision at all. The "storm drain" there that is the issue is sealed off and unused. They called the town to ask about it and the town said despite it being unused, they still had to comply with the rules. I don't see how the pictures I showed can be making it look worse than it is, I didn't doctor the pics in any way. If he's talking about how it looks now, then that's because I dropped $2k to have it filled in with dirt after Accent told me they'd fill it with dirt taken from another empty lot and then ignored me when I contacted them 2 weeks later about it, through numerous phone calls and emails. Speaking of emails, they ignored me when I reminded them of the 2 year visit to fix nail pops. I wrote a note on the back of my HOA dues 7 months later and then all of a sudden I was getting called for it."

"When you build a brand new home, you expect it to be done by professionals thinking it will be done to your liking. Sadly this was not the case with Accent Homes. They do not care about quality with regards to vendor work, quality, or materials. If they can do it cheap, they will!! I had to stop by our house everyday while being made since we kept on having issues with Accent communicating to their workers. We had the wrong garage door installed, our kitchen counters were put in wrong, and the placement of ceiling lights were a disaster. If you tried to let them know something was incorrect, the blame was redirected and they would try and say you were doing a "Change Order" and it would cost extra. I would have to bring the plans to the office and argue to show them a mistake was made before this would be corrected. If you like your lawn to poorly be done with thousands of rocks in it, then please build with them. The rock for your driveway is delivered and put right where your front lawn goes. Then, when it's time to do your lawn, they merely spread it around and hope you dont notice when G&G lawn services does another poor job of seeding. I literally have pieces of PVC, siding, rags, and garbage from vendors left under the straw/netting since they were too lazy to pick this up before completing the lawn. Again, if you contact them with a problem, you will get nowhere. My wife and I have to put thousands of extra dollars into redoing items the proper way. Good luck with your house hunting...."
