"My daughter had emergency surgery which made it impossible for her to sit and had complications after going home and her Dr. told her to go to this ER. The er staff was beyond rude and uncaring. I explained after an hour of her sitting there while others that came after her are being seen that she could not sit anymore, asked for a bed, cot, couch, ANYTHING and was told by Marilyn that she could stand. Mind you only 2 days out of hospital and hours have now gone by with no pain meds. There was a young man working as well ( Andrew)who tried to help find somewhere for her to lay down but was told no by another employee and then Marilyn got mad at Andrew and told him “ that’s why you don’t open your mouth”. When I asked for Marilyn’s name she resisted several times until I went to look at her badge id and then YELLED her name to me. A employee who witnessed all this followed us out with both Andrew’s and Marilyn’s name written down on a contact card and apologized and told us that Andrew did not even enter my daughters actual complaints, they were incorrect and that is why she was not a priority even though her heart rate is high and blood pressure is high and forgot to mention she passed out at home before being told to go to er. Sad thing is nothing will happen and those employees will be there when your family members need emergency help. So now we go through the er process all over again but at different er."

"On Tuesday 7/31, I took my husband Melvin to the ER at Trinity in Bettendorf due to extreme lower back pain. We arrived about 8:15 PM. I asked for a wheelchair because it was painful for him to stand. When we arrived, there were two or three other people in the waiting room. I went to move my vehicle and came back in the middle of his triage. He was telling the nurse (Hannah) to take good care of our niece Alina who I learned was in transit to the same hospital via ambulance. The nurse went on to ask him about medication allergies. He told her he could not have hydrocodone or prednisone. After she was done with triage, my husband was sent to the main lobby to wait, which he did willingly to make room for Alina. A bit later, her ambulance pulled in. Two hours go by. I go up to the front desk just to check in. The receptionist says a few people are getting discharged and placed so hopefully things will start moving for my husband. Another hour or so goes by. My niece is discharged. We are still waiting. The wait continued and my husband is called back around 12:15 AM. We are taken to exam room 2. The technician who took my husband back offered little assistance in getting my husband from the wheelchair to the hospital bed despite having watched us struggle just a few moments earlier in the waiting room. I also noticed that the room did not appear to be clean from the previous patient as there were needle caps and open gauze pads on the floor. There was a flat sheet folded in half on the mattress that kept sliding around and would not stay on correctly. When my husband mentioned it to Dr. Shimak after she came in, she shrugged and said that they didn’t have any more fitted sheets and suggested we send a formal complaint. Her tone and demeanor was condescending. After asking my husband questions about what was wrong, she decided they would start with pain meds and do an XRay. The first time the nurse came in she gave my husband Toridal (an anti-inflammatory) and Valium (a sedative that they told us was a muscle relaxer). My husband goes to XRay and then comes back and falls asleep (the pain meds kicked in). He wakes up writhing in pain. We called the nurse and she brings Hydrocodone (the medicine he told the registrar he could not have). He explained that he could not have that medication and asked for a different one. When he questioned why that wasn’t communicated in his paperwork, she responded that it was not in there and she didn’t know why because she was not there. She appeared annoyed with the question but went to see about a different medication. My husband mentioned this to Dr. Shimak when she came back. She asked how he was doing and his words were, “I think they tried to kill me.” Her response was also curt. She asked what exactly happened to his body when he had hydrocodone. He told her it upset his stomach to which she responded, “Well that won’t kill you.” There was little empathy, understanding, compassion or care in her tone or facial expression. It felt like my husband had become an inconvenience and at that point, my husband requested his discharge papers. Nothing had been fast about our whole visit. But it took less than 10 minutes for the nurse to come back with those discharge papers as they were ready for our family to exit. My husband left in more pain than when he arrived. And after nearly 7+ hours in the ER, he was no better off than when he started. The tone of the doctor, nurse and tech was nonchalant, rude and condescending. And to top it all off, when we opened page 2 of the discharge papers, that medication allergy was listed in plain sight which indicates the nurse did not even bother to read the chart and then lied to us about it. It was a most unpleasant ER visit from start to finish. I understand emergencies, staff shortages, delays etc. I used to work in an ER and our family is full of nurses. We understand healthcare. This was NOT a shining moment overall and the whole thing just left a very bad taste in everyone’s mouth."

"The most unsanitary and disgusting ER I have ever been in. The staff was very rude especially the doctor, there were a couple of kind nurses. Other than that, nurses at station rolled eyes and avoided acknowledgment. My mother and I brought my grandmother in to be observed for complications from dementia. After 5 long hours of waiting, we finally got brought back to a room, filled with filthy floors and linens . I actually took pictures because I couldn’t believe I was actually in a hospital. Her doctor was most definitely not the most pleasant as far as her demeanor and compassion. I felt a very “ awkward “ energy . I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to my worse enemy !"

"The only way to leave a review.front desk staff was great the provider and staff rooming are disrespectful and have no compassion. A simple request to leave the door open was met with an eye roll and the staff member pulling the door shut. Yes I am aware that is standard practice however due to a provider in my past I can’t have it shut it is how I have dealt with my PTSD and serve anxiety. If you have no compassion and flexibility to work with you patients maybe you should not be in healthcare."

"We have been here for 3 1/2 hours. My husband cut his hand at work, deep and needs stitches. They have unwrapped it twice, bleeds more each time then sends him back to the waiting room. We came in at 11:30 on a Monday night and still waiting at 3!!!! We’ve watched 3 people leave after waiting for 5 hours! We would too if we could. I’ll be sure not to come here again!"
