"I visited Dr. Manning on July 14, 2023 for very consistent throbbing and sharp pain in my right foot near my bunion. Dr. Manning did not seem to be friendly or very attentive to the issue, and I did not feel like I was being listened to. She recommended I wear different shoes like birkenstocks or oofos. She said it would be very difficult to fix the issue as she had shown me in the x-rays I had done in the office before seeing her and recommended I continue with conservative approaches. I was in significant pain and had tried to mention it was a while before I had seeked care for it. I did not deny her recommendations but when I asked about my pain being significantly worse when I am barefoot, she did say to "not walk barefoot" and get some supportive shoes for the house but that was not a solution for me, especially because there are scenarios where I would need to take my shoes off like for showers or when I pray or enter a mosque. I did not return to the office afterwards because I didn't feel there were any solutions for me and no extra tests were offered. I decided to seek care with a different doctor who from my first appointment told me my problem is not likely from my bunion. She did agree that I should continue wearing supportive shoes, but also gave me a prescription for orthotics and ordered an MRI. With the MRI, my doctor had told me there was a lot of inflammation in my sesamoids, causing all my pain and symptoms. I did my surgery with my new doctor mid-March 2024 and 3.5 weeks post-op, I am in less pain than I was before my surgery. Both my bunions on the same foot were also surgically corrected and one of the sesamoids were removed. My sesamoid had broken in the time I was walking on it, and also had no cartilage remaining according to my surgeon, and she had expressed that she was very happy that we had solved this and gotten it removed."

"She decided to risk avoiding surgery on my fractured heel and proceed with a cast and allow self-healing. The result was a complete success. I otherwise could have had complications due to my diabetes along with the complexity of surgery. No doubt the doctor could have profited more by surgery but you soon realize she is deciding on what is most favorable for the success of her patient. Her very pleasant personality is comforting."
