"ROOF INSTALLATION UPDATE MARCH 6th, 2023 DO NOT HIRE OSCAR AT SCCROOF INSTALLATION UPDATE – ENTIRE ROOF NEEDS TO BE REPLACED COMPLETE FRAUDS. BEWARE GEORGE AND OSCAR WILL LOSE THEIR LICENSES Full disclosure: I am a single mom and don't know anything about roofs. I got several estimates and this guy spoke about all of his experience and his team and I went with him. I do not know the ins and outs of any of it though and that's on me. This roof has been a NIGHTMARE. There have had nothing but problems since writing this, not only with the roof itself but there has been severe and expensive collateral damage as well. Brief summary: He charged me for a 4,000 sf roof when my house is 2031 sf. Even adding for pitch and overhang, you don't get over 3,000 sf. So, $45,900 for a roof when it should have been around $35,000. He was only here on the first day when he made me pay #35,000 upfront (after $1,000 deposit) and then again upon completion for the final $9,000. He had his most junior team on the project and was posting about how great it was going on FB (which ironically. one of the images reveals one of his many lies.) He made me pay $1,000 up front and $35,000 the day they started, remainder of $9,000 when completed. Again, I don’t know much about these things and I was stupid to trust and not get more info. They began the project right before a storm was coming up. There wasn’t even plywood up there. They covered with several tarps, but I warned over and over that the winds up on the hill are severe and have tossed heavy furniture into the pool. Sure enough, the tarp was not sufficient to cover and there was massive leaking throughout. I had to call him repeatedly. It was pouring in one spot in the house, multiple other leaks and in the attic space over the garage which I only found later. I have more recently discovered that they didn’t cover the vent for the furnace which of course broke my system and is why I have had no heat for months. I have something like 50 recessed lights in every area of the house. Each and every one was jarred out of place. In a few cases, the lights came down altogether. They did not push the lights in, despite me telling him they were letting in cold air and the house was freezing. I jammed in as many as I could, but quite a bit of air is still coming through every one of them. He claims they must have been like that before and that they need insulation wrapped around them. Well how the heck have I been living here for 15 years and never had any problems with them but he says they’ve always been like that? Sure. Didn't cap chimney (in the contract) so debris and roofing materials got in, like insulation (fiber glass!). The materials were toxic and have decimated existing logs for fireplace. Entire thing needs to be replaced along with cleanout and cap. Estimate not here yet but I was told to expect $4,500 to $5,000. Didn’t cover the pool and I had to hire someone (he refused) for $250 to come vacuum it after they were done. Didn’t clean up the yard at all and left a giant ladder on my front lawn for Skylights are all messed up and leaking. Debris is still coming off that roof. Then I started seeing shingles pulling upward, probably from the winds. One came off the house. I had someone up and video tape and take pictures. I sent to Oscar who apparently sent it to George, a senior GC and part owner of the firm. Oscar works under his license. George said the roof was garbage, needed to be redone. Said would deal with Oscar and help me, which he started to. Multiple texts with him calling the work “piss poor” and that he was “embarrassed.” Told me to get the $25,000 from Oscar’s bond. And poof!! George starts back-pedaling and disappears. Meeting with City in the morning. Finished the paperwork for the CSLB. Submitting insurance and bond documents for both of them tomorrow, and, as luck would have it, my neighbor overheard me talking about it and she is a freaking lawyer in that space. Gravy? When the job was done Oscar asked me for a $60,000 loan."

"Sonoma County Construction just completed a dry rot repair to the side our house. Oscar returned our initial call promptly and came out the same day to inspect the house and give an estimate. The crew were on time every day, work with precision, and left the place spotless. We'd like to thank them for their hard work Oscar was really easy to communicate with and kept an eye on things. We couldn't be happier with the job and would absolutely use Sonoma County Construction again"

"After interviewing six contractors we chose Sonoma County Construction and were very happy with our choice. Oscar provided one of the lowest bids and at the same time offered higher quality materials than several of the other contractors. His crew arrived promptly as scheduled every day, worked hard and well (despite the heat wave), and completed the job sooner than expected, and at the price we had agreed on. We recommend them highly."

"We recently had our bathroom completely remodeled by Oscar and his crew. We are very satisfied with the final result! This was a down to the studs remodel, so there were a lot of components to the job. During the initial planning meetings, my wife communicated her vision to Oscar, who listened carefully to understand exactly what we wanted. Oscar took care of all the permits and dealing with the inspections. Once the work started, Oscar’s crew were very efficient and very friendly. They were careful to keep their work and tools confined to the bath area as much as they could. All of the construction debris and mess were taken away. And they cleaned up each day to keep the impact on us as minimal as possible. Oscar was responsive to phone calls and texts if we had any questions or concerns. The overall construction, tile work, woodwork, wall finishing, paint, and wallpaper are outstanding. We had zero issues with the inspections and are very happy with our new bathroom."

"Oscar and his team were prompt, did good work and were helpful throughout the entire process. As the nature of their work is very permanent, I wanted everything to be right the first time. Communication with Oscar via text message was easy and he was always available. His crew was friendly and responsive. They completed all tasks as expected and was always willing to do additional minor tasks upon my request. They were very helpful. Everything was done by the book as Oscar obtained a proper city permit on my behalf prior to the work and scheduled the two city inspections (one during the work and the final inspection). It was hassle free and both inspections were quick and easy! In short, I am satisfied with their work!"
